Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-13896

 Description  « Hide
I'll be standing in my apartment looking at the walls and for a brief moment, seemingly at random, all of the textures will seem to disappear and be a solid colour, the primary colour of said textures (for instance instead of a forest texture on my walls, they'd become the dominant green in the texture). This issue seems isolated to being inside enclosed areas, as I haven't seen it occur outside of my apartment yet.

I've tried to take screen captures of this issue but my computer (in most cases, myself in others) is not responsive enough to register the printscreen button press while the issue occurs.

I've also had this issue, seemingly new with the 1.20 RC0 client. I've had the texture clipping issue (which I will try to screenshot) and also a problem where objects seem to, for a split second, completely disappear and reappear. It happens so fast that unfortunately there is no chance of me being able to screenshot it.

I've had the exact same issue, and with a GeForce 7600 as well.

I can now confirm it happens anywhere, not just indoors. I'm currently teaching someone how to build and the sandbox enclosure I'm in is flickering as described above. It happens so fast I can't be sure whether the sculpted prim logs around the perimeter are derezing or not, but I would guess that the client is forcing all the objects and textures in the scene to fall to its lowest LoD.

Ditto here - it's just for a single frame, it seems. Random timing. System as below:

This happens for me as well on a Mac Powerbook running OSX with an ATI x1600 card.

A fast flicker back to colour then the texture returns.

Very distracting issue.
Happens most often with camera movement but can also happen standing perfectly still with no camera movement.

Disabling only bump mapping and shiny in graphics prefs resolved this for me.

After testing for 3 days with this change and not a single flicker I felt comfortable commenting.
I would appreciate if others could try and confirm or deny this as well.

I get the same problem in the release candidate 1.20 and 1.20.1. I think its caused by enabling FSAA

I tested enabling and disabling FSAA both using in game setting and forced using nvidia 3D Settings. On or off it had absolutely no effect.

If you read through comments in related issue ( VWR-3930 Windlight: Lighting & Bump = Flicker) another user confirmed my suggested workaround disabling Bump Mapping and Shiny.

For me on the Release Candida 1-20-1-84760, every 30-45 seconds all of the objects such as house prim floors and so on, flicker/flash this happens right on time every 30-45 seconds like its on a cycle. I've tested this in many different islands and different objects and the same thing happens over and over.

My system specs are...

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (Unknown model) (3192 MHz)
Memory: 3071 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce 7600 GT/PCI/SSE2

this happens to me if I am camming, if I have the view reset to default position it very rarely happens - sometimes though if the screen is in the background and I have a webbrowser, or inventory/map/classified/chatIM windows open.

Has anyone noticed that this problem appears to be gone since 1.20.4? I've noticed a huge improvement. (_)
