Added an elderLinden as a watcher internally, trying to unstick issue
Excerpt from the April 30, 2009 Open Source Meeting, http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Source_Meeting/2009-04-30
[14:16] Q Linden: Ok, VWR-6198 – can it get some love? [14:16] Mm Alder: It just celebrated a birthday! [14:17] Q Linden: So, mm, this got stalled internally over a licensing issue, but my not-a-lawyer take on it is that it should be OK. I'll ask Rob to follow up when he gets back. [14:17] Q Linden: I really hope it could be solved. [14:17] Soft Linden: Or at the very least, we should be able to post the souce for our part, and direct people on where to get the code with the sticky license. [14:17] Mm Alder: It would have been nice if someone responded on the JIRA. [14:18] Soft Linden: Want me to drop a reminder on the internal, Q? [14:18] Q Linden: Yes, please [14:18] Mm Alder: Posting whatever you have would be very good. [14:19] Q Linden: mm, give us a week, but let's cycle this to next week's agenda once Rob's back. [14:19] Mm Alder: OK [14:19] Mm Alder: It's the XML format I'm after. I don't want to run it. [14:19] Q Linden: oh? That might be easier Mm: any time there's a discussion about publishing more source code, there's a complicated business discussion that we need to have. It's not merely a matter of "slapping the legal boilerplate on the file". Given we've had no shortage of complicated business discussions over the past year, we haven't gotten to this one. I could have made this easy and said "no", but I'm assuming that you didn't want any old answer to this request.
This still isn't at the top of the stack, but we're in a much better place to move forward on this than we were a year ago. I doubt we'll have a further update by the Thursday Open Source Meeting (I see this is on the agenda) but I'm hoping we'll have more to say in the next month. This issue was actually opened by Tofu Linden, not me. At the the open source meeting, both Soft Linden and Q Linden thought this should be easy and suggested following up on it. If I get back to working on this in the near future, I'll just make up an XML format, I guess.
as ive commented on a similar issue access to some way of exporting the mesh data for a given shape would
cause riots of joy from a lot of content creators. LL would lose a bit on folks not having to upload 'wrong" textures but they would gain most of that back by folks making more useable/sellable assets. MM if you would like to have a tester from the "random resident" pool let me know Any status update on this?

VWR-4794it would probably be a good idea to get this done before we forget about it. Is there a holdup on getting this code released?
