When I log into the new viewer, everything is extremely lagged, even on the lowest graphics settings (I've never needed to use the lowest settings before) I have triangular blocks of color intermittently and ultimately my viewer crashes within the first 5-10 minutes of use. This definitely is the worst update yet.

Another repeat of VWR-3258?

Azadine Umarov added a comment - 05/Apr/08 11:27 PM - edited
Given the mention of 5 to 10 minute crashes, and the presence of an ATI Radeon card in the 9000 series, i'm relating this one to VWR-6104 as well, though it is almost surely a dupe. But I'm growing more persuaded that this entire issue remains within the scope of VWR-3258, most properly.

Please provide more details if necessary, and read the related issues to see if the artifacts onscreen are similar in nature to those shown for VWR-3258. Also, if possible report on what settings you had set for OpenGL VBO under Graphic Hardware Settings? Including the contents of the detailed system information from the Help > About SecondLife menu may help the Linden developers to finally nail down this bug, which seems to be becoming nearly a Showstopper at this point.

I'm pasting those from the OnRez viewer at the moment, as it's the only main grid viewer I can currently rely on to remain uncrashed for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. IT IS PROBABLY BEST if you re-report any further details you notice under one of the issues listed. Since you are seeing the artifacts despite having current drivers, I would suggest follow up under VWR-3258. But I would double check the drivers too, the most recent ones are Catalyst 8.3, and they are about a week or so old at most, as I write this.
