 Description  « Hide
I was running the 1.19.0.5 client as usual. After a time i have got the first crash (black screen) and restarted manually. This was two days ago.
Yesterday i installed the new client 1.19.1.4 and ran it ... after a time i crashed again, yesterday evening.
Today i loged in and after a short time ... again black screen.

Grafic card driver is updated yesterday, because i thought it could help.

Got back now to the old version, hoping it will not take me out again.

Crash may be related to the issues linked?

May also simply relate to huge amounts of packet loss shown in attached crash log?

I'm wondering if this is fallout from our network issues last week. Is it still a problem for you? Could you let me know? thanks.

Kathleen Auer added a comment - 08/Apr/08 04:57 PM
Sorry to tell, but its just today twice that i crashed with the latest viewer again. So i cant tell its resolved.

this is the latest crash report. And NO there is not the line problem, because it was well from the begin of February until the last week, with the same line and the same paket-lost.

Kathleen, can we try one last thing? Have you cleared your cache? You should try clearing both web and server cache.

Launch SL and go to Edit > Preferences>Network and press the clear cache button and then hit apply
then go to Edit->Preferences->web and press the clear now button next to Browser cache and then hit apply.
then relog and see if that helps.

thanks

Have you tried cleaning the dust and lint out of your CPU and GPU heat sinks? (can of air, but make sure your computer has cooled down first)

So i am back with the thing. Have tried out all the hints i have got.

Updated the Grafic Card driver
Cleared the Cache.
Cleaned the dust out of the CPU and GPU
Looked about the heat within the PC, without a bad news about (all is well and stable unless i use SL)
at last tried the Nicolaz-Viewer,

but i am still crashing.

It seems no certain situation needed for. This last time was while rezzing and positioning something on a new Island.

I now thought first there is the reason that i am building and crashing within,
because the last crashes where wile building or just closing the building windows.

But now again i crashed after reboot ... only 10 minutes later. ...
Without trying to build, neither to do anything else, only standing around.

What the hell is this bug?

So now, even if LL is really interested in solving my problem, i come back here.

The solution provided i have got on my ticket is to tie down my XP firewall and the Antivirusprogram, to not get more than 51% of packet lost.
Because they think this loss can crash my System.

Is that really possible???
I can't believe.

And what is this program if it only runs with doors wide open for any intruder that wants to look?

Kathleen - can you please try this in the most recent viewer: 1.20.15?

Kathleen Auer added a comment - 06/Aug/08 07:51 PM
Hi nya,

i have at last changed my grafic card into a nVidia 8 Series. And after it seems to be stable, even with the new viewer.

I nor have tied down my defence neither the provider of my line found anything worse with it.

But its running for now.

Thanks at least for a question about me.

Kathleen Auer added a comment - 06/Aug/08 07:53 PM
The thing stopped after having changed the grafics. So no more reproducable.
