I am not able to wear or see any sort of skirt my avatar should be wearing. I had no problems with the last version of SL, but since the update yesterday I can not dress as I normally would... What's the problem?

This is reproducible for me also, in 1.19.1 RC0 trying to wear a skirt is ignored by the viewer.

This should be moved to VWR with Affected Version 1.19.1 Release Candidate.

Seems to be working now, maybe server lag or asset server problems.

Alexa Linden added a comment - 17/Mar/08 09:19 AM
Krystallyne, Are you still experiencing this problem?

I was able to reproduce this problem also and I am in Second Life 1.19.1(1)(Second Life Release Candidate). I logged out and logged back in using the normal client and rebaked textures. This fixed the problem for one skirt but not for another. Was also able to reproduce the problem with a newly created skirt.

It sounds more like the skirt is not loading. Have you tried taking it off and putting back on? Also, are you doing this in a laggy sim? Have you tried doing this at another location?

lulu lilliehook added a comment - 27/Mar/08 03:37 PM
Yes I have taken the skirts off and on several times and I have tried different sims e.g. Polar Star and St Lucia but the same problem arises.

I have the same problem. The skirt layer cannot be seen except when the AV goes into appearence. I too have logged in and out, cleared cache and even removed and reloaded the new 1.19.1(1)(Second Life Release Candidate). The first time it happened I contacted the clothings creator and she said that this is a bug and that many people are having this problem. It happened again last night with an older outfit I wanted to wear. At the same time text appears on the AVs legs, seeming grabbed from other places (like the group tag and AV name) it is small text and appears to float over the legs. I do have a picture of this.

This has occured over the last couple days. When I put the skirt on, it is only artially visible and out of place for perhaps 10 seconds or so, then either disappears totally, or becomes translucent. However my inventory shows it as if I'm still wearing it. I;ve tried all the fixes I know with no success in resolving it.

I've been having the same problems with skirts also. It first happened last week with a skirt I'd been wearing for a while. It kept disappearing for no apparent reason, even though my inventory confirmed that I was wearing it.

It was really irritating last night to buy a new and expensive skirt and not be able to wear it!

Like Abbey Zenith says, you can see the skirt when the AV goes into appearance, but as soon as you return to normal mode the skirt disappears.

I've tried putting the skirt on in an unpopulated area and in various changing rooms so the problem can't be down to lag.

I'm looking into SL for teaching purposes. How is it going to look when the teacher loses her skirt in class?

Hope somebody can get to bottom of this!

As previous reports say, the "skirt" is visible in edit appearence mode and the inventory shows it is being worn but it fails to show in virtual world both for client and other observers.
There is a workround of sorts if u clear cache, go advanced on the toolbar (ctrl/alt/shift/d together), load char test (reverts u to a default avatar ) then load up your personal clothes, shapes etc. and log out and in again.
However if that does work (50/50) , the prob soon arises again later on tp to different areas (servers??) in the sl world..
Its driving me nuts!
I have even created a brand new avatar on a spare computer on my network and I am getting exact same probs with her!
Since the recent obligatory "upgrade" (1-19)all this developed for me and I have a feeling "windlight" may be part of the mystery as this was optional on the previous version of sl. As i have old graphics cards on both machines(mx440) I was not running windlight.. However while I admit my graphics are poor, "I fail to see" (pardon the pun!) why other residents with far superiour graphics/machines also cannot see my avatars "skirts" ???

I can also confirm this is real under current client and all subsequent release candidates. I have reproduced it in my home region Bob Too and many others. Bob Too was recently relocated to another server for other reasons but the behaviour remains the same. When you 'wear' a skirt after log in it appears as full shape - no texture. Seems to vanish at about the time when the texture should rez.. Inventory reports the skirt as worn, but it remains invisible, take it off, out it back on again, same result except that after the first attempt you see nothing at all during the process. Please can someone take a look at this - it IS real!

Further to my last comment, I am now running the new beta viewer (1-20)and problem occured again! but I was able to "fix" using method as my last post.
The only cause this time,as far as I could see was because I teleported to a area I had not been to before, but I have teleported to previously known areas via landmarks and experienced problem ,. I cannot duplicate it suficently to say it is area (server) specific.
Looking for this thread from various sl internal "links" (as I had forgotten to mark this thread as "watch") I only got back here by a chance google search!
It would seem there are a number of duplicate threads on this issue, most of which are grouped under
WWR-2778 and describe exact same probs but offer no constructive answers! Some threads having started way back in 2007,so that kind of blows my "windlight" idea (unless they ran it as options?)
This thread however seems the most recently active so I am going to stick with it.
Maybe we can get some ideas if we state following:
Whats your graphics card? (mine is mmx440)
Did you NOT run windlight before you noticed problems?
What was your original avatar (mine was cybergoth female)
All info is good info and I am sure once we can nail the cause then a solution will no doubt follow!

I too have had this problem since the latest update. Most frustrating to stand around for 10 mins in my underwear frantically pressing Ctrl-Alt-R trying to rez my skirt! It only works sometimes. It was always working fine up until about 15 days ago.

There is a workaround that i've come up with that seems to fix this problem and secondlife loads the skirt. Simple go into edit appearance, click skirt, click color, and change the color of the skirt VERY slightly (it only needs to be enough so that you can save it, not a noticeable difference). Once you click save, the skirt will then rez properly.

This assumes you have modify permissions on the skirt, which many people may not, thus it is only a workaround and not a solution whatsoever. Works for me though.

Cheers
