Dark Land Underwater shows this in Dazzle with local lighting checked on an ATI HD2400, but I don't get it with either setting in the RC. Are you sure this is an RC issue, and not Dazzle?
I'm sure it's not just a Dazzle issue, Because I don't use Dazzle.
Also, The picture you posted isn't the same issue. Your fog density just hasn't been changed. It think my problem may be a driver issue. I switched drivers and the issue went away! So it's a Driver issue! o.o
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation driver version 6.14.11.7516 Graphics Card: GeForce 6800 GT/AGP/SSE/3DNOW! OpenGL Version: 2.1.2 Second Life 1.20.13 (91658) Jul 8 2008 16:01:06 (Second Life Release Candidate) I can switch to 'sun and moon only' and it does correct the issue, which returns when I re-select local lighting, in both clients. I first noticed this after updating my video driver to 175.16, and it went away when I rolled back the driver. Pic attached to show this is visible from above water - blue underwater in pic is unreleased ocean. Confirmed on a Debian Lenny system, nVidia 7600Go with driver version 173.14.09. SL client is RC 1.20.14.92115.
I can also confirm this is happening on my system:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 (2202 MHz) Rolling back to "169.44_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_beta.exe" fixed the problem as a workaround for us.
in advanced (Ctrl alt D) rendering features, turn off 'FOG' seems a slight workaround, but may also point to the underlying issue
I run SL on a Dell XPS m1710 laptop under WinXP Pro. My laptop has an NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS video card. If I use the drivers that the laptop shipped with (which are dated April 2007) I don't get this problem. However, if I update my video driver to something more recent, I get the black seabed problem every time. I've tried this a couple of times, most recently a couple of months ago with drivers dated March 2008 (which at the time were the most recent drivers for my card that were offered on the Dell website). It did this on a previous occasion when I tried to update the video drivers as well, but I don't recall the date of the updated driver in that case. I didn't try mucking around with graphics settings when I observed this problem, so I don't know if that would have helped; I just rolled back to the previous drivers immediately, since as I live underwater black seabed is a big problem for me. I don't think it's a problem with a specific viewer version, since I've tried updating my video drivers on a couple of occasions quite some time apart, and while I don't specifically recall which viewer version I was using in each case, the attempted updates were sufficiently far apart that I would have in all likelihood been
using different viewer versions in each case. (Other computer specs in case it is relevant: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T7200, 2GHz RAM, 4MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB.) Updated NVIDIA drivers from 169.21 to 178.24, thanks to MS update.
Texture below water, seen from below water, is not rendered so is black. Disabling water rendering does not render the texture below water when seen from below water. Uninstalled back to 169.21 and the problem is gone, reinstalled 178.24 and it's back. Disabling fog appears to work. Who needs fog anyways.. Sun and moon also appears to work but I like the better lighting. This one is back again, my system details:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2133 MHz) The details from a resident with the same problem: CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (1729 MHz) We cured it by turning off atmospheric shaders (before reading this about fog). I get it on the latest RC & the current regular viewer but I can't find an upgrade for my drivers. It only started a few weeks ago and I've had the same drivers for months. @Judi - This is a duplicate issue, please add your comments and votes to the main issue VWR-8211.

I wasn't able to reproduce this by disabling local lighting with my card. Any other settings I should try? Also in the future please try to attach screenshots rather than uploading bmps? They're big and can take ages to load sometimes.
