I've changed your title to make it more meaningful and clicked "patch attached" for you. Please change it to something else if you disagree with my assessment.
Hi Biobi,
I noted on your user page that a few of the "DELETED" files I think are actually used by the viewer.... however most have not changed in a long time. The only time that Linden Lab can apply new localizations into the viewer is at the start of a new version's Release Candidate cycle... of which one is coming up on 8-April. We would be willing to try to incorporate your patch; however there may be some complicated merge issues. (Another project has modified the structure of many of the XML files, yet again.) It would be worth a try and see how it goes. Thanks again for this work Biobi.
As it turns out, in the coming months, Linden Lab is going to revamp the way in which we can incorporate Resident participation in the translations of the viewer. We are also going to raise the priority of improving the French translation – we are committed to making it better! Finally, the ability for Residents to create their own customizations as "skins" (whether or not Linden Lab is involved) is going to be improved. Thus we cannot incorporate this patch right now--- Also since you posted, a number of structural changes have been made to the XUI files (in viewer 1.20). Parts of your patch would need to be adjusted. I began tweaking some of it (but not all) and have posted a modest revision, in case that is helpful to you. Hi Biobi, thank you again for your contributions. Our new French Localization Lead, Noelle Linden, has taken your suggestions into consideration while revamping the French localization of the viewer. You will see some of this revamp in 1.21 but all of them in 1.22.
Also, not sure whether you know, but we now have an organized PJIRA based Community Translations project. Here is the wiki page for it: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/French_Viewer_Localization_Project If you'd like to contribute, just sign up and join in. We'd love to have you!!!!
