 Description  « Hide
Repro:
1. Creat a box
2. set repeat to 3x3
3. Logoff
4. Log back on.
5. RIght click edit the box
6. tick off the "Select Texture" option. all side should highlight
7. While it is still selected open your inventory
8. in the search line type the letter A
9. Notice the repeated parts of the texture turn white beyond the first repeat of the texture.

In the attached image you will see how selected texture overlay does not repeat correctly.
Also notice in the HUD in the bottom right a few of the buttons have turned black. These button have the offest outside the range of -0.5 to 0.5.
This is a little more random with the HUD buttons having problems but there is something common between the two. The button only turn black some time after the overlay problem occurs and would be those outside the first repeat.

I listed my specs because this seem to happen with my Nvidia based machines.

This issue was resolved as "Needs More Info" during our batch cleanup because it was set as affecting First Look: WindLight. On the Issue Tracker, we've noticed many duplicate issues and issues that lacked actionable info or were already fixed.

WindLight recently "graduated" from a "First Look" technology preview to Release Candidate status – nearing inclusion in the main viewer with your help! So, "First Look: WindLight" does not exist anymore.

More info and how to download the RC viewer: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/03/06/new-release-candidate-viewer-1191-rc0-available/

If you've verified that this issue is still a problem in the newest Release Candidate, here's what to do next:

(1) Search the Issue Tracker to make sure it isn't a duplicate of an existing issue we know about. If it is, link it as a duplicate using the "Link this issue..." link on the left. You can learn more about searching by watching this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAlXK5hSVMc

(2) Reopen the issue and BE SURE to update the "Affects Version/s" to the correct one, most likely ONLY "1.19.1 Release Candidate". However, if this bug affects the main viewer (1.19.0 as of this writing), then DO NOT set it to an RC version. Only set it to 1.19.0 instead. Be as specific with versions as possible – there's generally no need to set multiple versions, as it tends to dilute and confuse where a bug originated.

(3) Add any other relevant details that would help us fix it. We can't stress the importance of a "solid repro" enough – a reliable series of steps to make a bug happen reliably.

(4) Come and attend our inworld bug triages, where you can meet with Linden Lab employees to look at, verify, and expedite bugs for fixing. More info @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage

Thank-you for helping us improve Second Life!

I could reproduce this bug with shiva's description in bug# VWR-5612 . Everything goes back to normal upon relogging.

Maybe this is related to VWR-5963 ? When the bug happens (see my snapshot in bug VWR-6192), the white grid that shows texture tiling looks a lot like the texture on snapshot of VWR-5963 .

I had thought this was an unfortunate (because it's exceptionally annoying) feature change, because it has happened to me 100% consistently since the WL and RC were merged, as well as in the new WL viewer.

Yesterday I noticed that I don't need to wait for a blue popup for it to happen, just selecting a texture twice (or two different textures one after the other) in "Select Texture" mode will reproduce the bug.

It's been several days now that I'm using the 1.20 RC and I've yet to encounter the problem in that viewer (fingers crossed. So the 1.20 RC seems to have fixed that problem on my computer.

"Appears to be fixed in the current beta" is not "fixed".

This is still very much affecting people in 1.19.1.4.. and closing this issue makes it appear that no such problem currently exists. The lindens can close this when they actually DO officially release a fix.

The release notes for 1.20.7 indicate that VWR-5963 was fixed (which seems to be the same thing). But I'm still of the opinion that jira entries shouldn't be closed until an actual fix is implemented in the official client. Re-Resolving as "Fix Pending"

this is also related. Alpha textures on huds also suffered from this problem where the texture did not repeat
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-5597
This is also fixed in the current RC 1.20.xx
though this is a bug it can be useful if it where an option. In Unreal 2005 this was called "Decal". You would use a Alpha image will 100% alpha around the edge then set it to decal. you could then place the image anywhere on a larger surface. This was useful because you did not have to waste a large amount of texture memory if you want a high rez image in the middle of surface and wanted to be able to move it around.

gearsawe, Winter - since this is now appearing as fixed in the official viewer 1.20.15, I am moving the Status to Fixed.
