 Description  « Hide
Original summary: 1.19.0 Release Candidate - buttons appear over chat text display

after resizing window and using mouselook, the IM Received, Release Keys, Mouselook and Stand Up buttons all appear on top of new text chat.

(better) steps to recreate, start with window not full screen, open chat bar, wear something like the popgun that has a mouselook button (going in mouselook is what is important). use the mouse wheel and go into mouse look and then back out. each time you do this, the row of buttons move up slightly until they cover incoming chat. if you do it long enough, they move down below the chat bar.

Tested with 1.19.0 rc 1 and same issue.

(mass action) Resolving these 1.19.0 RC issues for now, because 1.19.0 RC was accidentally released: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/02/02/the-119-release-candidate-and-you/

Please revisit these issues and reopen if they're still applicable once 1.19.0 RC is officially released.

Nanci Barthelmess added a comment - 04/Feb/08 07:28 PM
1.19.0 RC has been officially released, and this is a major opportunity to hit the button by mistake. Please consider reopening the bug now that the RC is out.

This problem is real... go in mouselook a time or two. Those floating buttons are not going where they should go and you can't move them.

Just tried the 1.19 viewer, and had this issue right away, every time you come out of mouse look (I'm using mousewheel scrolling in and out) the buttons jump up a few pixels. They are now half way up my screen.

running on Mac, so it's a general issue. and the blue Online/Offline notifications hop up to that level too.

only seems to be when the Chat bar is open, they settle on top of the Communicate button fine other wise.

See 'Release Keys' and 'Stand Up' buttons floating high.

This also happens if you go into mouse-look with the chat-bar open

Steven Lamont added a comment - 06/Feb/08 09:05 AM - edited
Its not only the Releasekey moving upwards till its gone, also the Local Chat Window moves upwards and you cant place it back on the bottom, its blocked. The more often you go in mouselook the further its moving up. Relog doesn't solve this, once you enter mouselook, it flips up again to the last position and stays there.

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 06/Feb/08 09:08 AM
The Local Chat window should probably be another issue since it is not a button and relog fixes the button issue but not the window issue.

I'm having this same problem, and my "friend is online" popup is about 3 inches high too.

Mouselook doesn't do it for me, opening my lower Chat Bar is what does it for me. When I close it, everything returns to normal.

Rose Evans added a comment - 07/Feb/08 10:54 PM
What mine looks like with the lower chat box open.

Rose Evans added a comment - 07/Feb/08 10:55 PM
And when I close the Lower Chat Box and vola, everything snaps back into place where it belongs...

JetZep Zabelin added a comment - 08/Feb/08 11:19 AM - edited
This happens after exiting mouselook while the chat bar is shown. The first couple times of entering/exiting mouselook the buttons aren't very visibly off. The distance increases every time you exit mouselook.

If you close the chatbar, the buttons move back down.

Not only the buttons are affected. Minimized window bar locations are also affected.

Using "Second Life 1.19.0 (79185) Feb 1 2008 16:24:20 (Second Life WindLight)" here.
My Release Keys button is in the proper place when the local chat bar is closed. I noticed it was higher with the local chat bar open. I had been in mouselook mode before.
I experimented a little with what JetZep Zabelin said. I entered mouselook mode, then pressed enter and escape a few times repeatedly while still in mouselook mode - to open the local chat bar and close the local chat bar repeatedly. Now I cannot even see the release keys button while the local chat bar is open. I can see it kind of quickly jump up the screen, then it disappears partway up.

I see what JetZep means about minimized window bar locations. Try opening the local chat bar, then minimize some windows (like an IM window, or your inventory). The "bar" the window turns into is in a spot rather higher than it should be.

Thanks muchly for the reports!

Nice to see you've got my textures too, Rose.

Fix for this is coming soon, watch http://blog.secondlife.com for Release Candidate updates!

Argent Stonecutter added a comment - 13/Mar/08 05:56 PM
I hope so. They creep up far enough that I can't hit them any more.

Ramzi Linden added a comment - 05/Aug/08 05:50 PM
This specific bug should already appear Fixed in the 1.19.0 and 1.19.1 viewers.

If that is not the case, please reopen this issue. But if there is different buggy behavior, that is present in the latest viewer 1.20.15, please report a new bug under a separate issue. Thanks!

Argent Stonecutter added a comment - 05/Aug/08 07:34 PM
I have not seen any sign in any version of SL that this bug is fixed. It's still happening in the latest release. I haven't ever seen it stop happening. It's maybe gotten less severe, but all the buttons are still creeping up when you enter and exit mouselook.

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 05/Aug/08 09:03 PM
Not for me, I have not seen this bug in any of the 1.20 releases.
