Environment:

Windows XP SP2 clean install, Intel quad-core system custom-designed and pro-built, Nvidial 8800 GTS supercharged 320meg graphics card, 1 terrabyte HD, 4 gigs ram, 6.5mbps cable connnection. In short-- it's not a lack of power.

Ever since the rolling restart on 1-17-2008, I've been experiencing regular and excessive freezes, crashes, and tremendously slow asset server response.
It's not my computer. Was working just fine (relatively speaking) prior to rolling restarts (well, not really, but now it's really borked). No other program I use crashes or slows down my computer. SL not only crashes itself now, but crashes my entire computer system. Other programs run slowly. There appears to be a severe memory leak and system overhead glitch that is really messing up the system. Am hearing similar reports from friends of all computer makes and power. We're constantly having to reset our sims, reset our computer, and restart our computers.
It a mess.
