The solution file for VC8/VS2005, linden/indra/indra_complete/indra_complete_vc8.sln is not synchronized with the source files supplied with the zip archive. When opened, VC++ says a project llimagej2coj is missing. When build, it generates a lot of strange errors such as some source file is missing. The solution file upgraded from VC7 solution file, indra_complete.sln, with manual modification described in wiki.secondlife.com works fine. I believe it is essentially the same issue as https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-259
