I'm glad this has been stopped for now, as the thread on sldev points out, the main problem I see with it was the time it took to load the page, it didn't even seem to be caching anything. It could at least cache the images.
I agree with 4 anyway. As I like to run windlight and use the -loginuri command option to join other grids, the fact that the latest windlight version ignores the -loginuri flag is quite a disapointment
Not WindLight-specific, duped by multiple things in VWR-3832.
Torley with all do respect, that honestly was a very lame decision closing the issue. :/ This is a serious problem that prevents logins. Last time i checked issues like this are top priority... The old login screen wasn't broke, and the new one is. LL is very good at breaking things... I can see how some of this stuff is related, but it doesn't classify as a duplicate. Sure some of the things i listed might already mentioned, but not all of them. sighs Just another reason why the official viewers are unusable.
LL decided to back off on the new login system until they could stabilize it further, so this issue would be resolved by now anyway:
Thats good. I personally wouldn't mind it being HTML based as long as it doesn't take so long to load. Knowing that thousands of people are logging into the same page all the time would cause lag and strain. It's best to try and keep it as part of the client for now.
Please Linden Lab change it back to the old login screen. The where the login form is part of the client not the website.
I get these errors a lot... It prevents me from logging. I might add this to my profile picture as another reason why yiffy can't enjoy her second life. In the time it takes to wait for the login page to show up, with the old login screen i could have already hit [Enter] and be logging in by now. This also happens quite often. |

As to #3... might it be possible for custom viewers to render the login section with a special style sheet?
