I did go to the support portal who told me to come here and make sure I had the latest drivers, which while I was posting it, the concierge closed the chat. My husband who can use windlight is using the exact same graphics card .. they were purchased at the same time.. his was installed a week before mine.
I did make sure I have the latest drivers on my GeForce 7600-?? card.. I did contact support, they told me to check my drivers, I did so and they told me to post here and you tell me to see them and mark it as resolved.
have you tried the newest viewer 1.19.0 ?
http://secondlife.com/community/downloads-optional.php What version of windows are you using? see if we can't narrow this bug down to make it easier for LL to fix. because the normal browser works, and only the optional browser does not, bumping this down to critical. Windows XP SP2, Intel Dual 2.4GHz, 3GB DDR2, GeForce 8600GT 256MB. Fully up to date drivers and working perfectly with other games for over 12 hours at a time.
Latest RC release, worked perfectly when first installed and for the first 24 hours. After that it suddenly started doing exactly as the previous viewer had done and crashes as soon as the window began to load. As in, the window appears on screen, maximises before any graphics come up and then crashes. Will happen every time without fail, tested approximately 20 times in a row. Reinstalled, cleared browser cache, cookies, temporary files, recycle bin (like that would make the slightest difference) and still does exactly the same. Viewer is therefore useless to me.
