 Description  « Hide
Some texture extremely slow to load, some taking up to 30 min. Changing bandwith and graphics options had no effect in speeding up the load. This has not been an issue in the standard viewer.

With the New V1.20 its become more they loose the cache and seems to load every texture again and again simply by showing on other ways and look back. Its terrible from now on and only affect the NEW Release of V1.20 (not the RC)

This issue was resolved as "Needs More Info" during our batch cleanup because it was set as affecting First Look: WindLight. On the Issue Tracker, we've noticed many duplicate issues and issues that lacked actionable info or were already fixed.

WindLight recently "graduated" from a "First Look" technology preview to Release Candidate status – nearing inclusion in the main viewer with your help! So, "First Look: WindLight" does not exist anymore.

More info and how to download the RC viewer: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/03/06/new-release-candidate-viewer-1191-rc0-available/

If you've verified that this issue is still a problem in the newest Release Candidate, here's what to do next:

(1) Search the Issue Tracker to make sure it isn't a duplicate of an existing issue we know about. If it is, link it as a duplicate using the "Link this issue..." link on the left. You can learn more about searching by watching this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAlXK5hSVMc

(2) Reopen the issue and BE SURE to update the "Affects Version/s" to the correct one, most likely ONLY "1.19.1 Release Candidate". However, if this bug affects the main viewer (1.19.0 as of this writing), then DO NOT set it to an RC version. Only set it to 1.19.0 instead. Be as specific with versions as possible – there's generally no need to set multiple versions, as it tends to dilute and confuse where a bug originated.

(3) Add any other relevant details that would help us fix it. We can't stress the importance of a "solid repro" enough – a reliable series of steps to make a bug happen reliably.

(4) Come and attend our inworld bug triages, where you can meet with Linden Lab employees to look at, verify, and expedite bugs for fixing. More info @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage

Thank-you for helping us improve Second Life!

March 21st:

Textures in world very slow to load into viewer.
Uploaded textures applied to object exceeding 5+ minutes to load onto prim
after initial application to surfaces.

tabitha oxide added a comment - 21/Mar/08 12:27 PM
This is a new texture created 512 x 512 PNG.
As you can see the Texture "TEST" hasnt loaded in the view window
nor has it rezzed upon the box prim it was placed.

This is after 8 minutes of wait time from the upload from computer into SL.

Now approximately 20 minutes... the prim texture in the screenshot previously attached to this issue
STILL HASN'T LOADED. After 20 Minutes.

This is happening in the standard viewer:

Windows XP Home

The original issue here was textures loading slow in Windlight, 1.19.0 (5) is not a Windlight viewer, you should probably open a new issue instead.

Have you cleared cache and relogged?

Please also comment on your connection (wired/wireless) and which router you have.

Is there anything noticable in the Statistics Bar that might explain the slow loading textures?

This is something that has been common since the 1.21 client for me. Texture loading has been extremely slow. And, now, with 1.22.xx, I'm seeing invisible prims while waiting for the textures. I have included a string of screen shots showing a 5 minute period where my favorite (and cached) hangout that took all that time to load, some textures were still blurry, and I didn't even move. The stuff behind me still never rezzed. To see a full region rez has really doubled in time for me since 1.21 and the new clear unloaded textures and black avatars aren't helping. (>_<)

Imnotgoing, thank you for reporting this and attaching the images.

The main issue is VWR-8503, please add your comments and vote to that issue.

Thank you : )

Holger Gilruth added a comment - 29/Nov/08 02:36 PM
why you report THIS. This is online since about april and the new is from august so the other is of course the duplicate

Gellan Glenelg added a comment - 29/Nov/08 05:17 PM
This is the same problem as VWR-8503.
Although VWR-8503 is a later issue, it has already been imported to the internal jira and is being worked on by LL.

Please add any further comments to VWR-8503.
