Please add such features to the contacts (friends) list:

possibility to create groups or possibility to add short notice without opening profile for all of them (it allow e.g. mark the role in the group) ,
send notice, object or IM to group of people (it allow e.g. send gifts, info etc...),
pay to group of people (it allow e.g. to pay salary quick or something),

These features will greatly help to keep business contacts from friends as well.

Since the number of groups one can join is already terribly limited (for technical reasons I understand) it's not even an option to divide friends and business contacts in separate groups.

The way I understand the above request is that the possibility to create groups is more like a definable view within the contact list. So this should not affect groups and group memberships.

Another option which I'd like to add:
Be able to apply the Busy and Away options separately for the defined categories. An example: when I'm really busy with a photo shoot and cannot be disturbed by other contacts than business contacts, I can switch to Busy mode for the 'other contacts'

Thanks all for votes and comments. Hope they make something with it. Now e.g. I am not able to send IM to special promotion staff. There is only possibility to make conference channel using the calling cards but no send items, etc.... and send IM if they only have special role in the group but you don't have calling cards to them.

I, too, have been praying for this option.

Something as simple as the ability to group contacts would be IMMENSELY helpful.
