Thanks for logging this. I'll note this issue internally and we'll discuss adding support for this card.

It says this was resolved. May I ask how? Is there a patch?

Unfortunately, the error usually means that Second Life won't work with the graphics card (or chipset, if it's Intel). Check http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php for the full list, and scroll down to the bottom for incompatible cards. Many laptop cards and chipsets don't work (although "82945G" looks like part of the Intel "945" family and should work).

Unfortunately, this isn't really a bug - some cards simply don't have the functionality necessary to run Second Life. ATI "XPRESS" cards are an example of a card that doesn't work. If Linden Lab can get Second Life to run on the card, though, they might list it as a supported card in the future. Sorry.

Akucard, I'm not quite sure what's wrong with your configuration - can you confirm it really is an Intel 945 chipset, and you have the latest version of Second Life?

Resolving as 'misfiled' for now. (I don't see a better label...)

So is this being worked on?

Keetah Lusch added a comment - 16/Mar/08 07:28 PM
I am running Vista with an ATI Radeon Mobility X2300 graphics card and I continue to receive the error that my video card driver software needs to be updated or that 'my graphics card is unsupported'. How long will it take Linden Lab to support these new graphics cards that more and more people are acquiring with their new Vista machines?

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 24/Mar/08 01:21 PM
This card is in the slviewer-src-Branch_1-19-0-Viewer-r80803\linden\indra\newview\gpu_table.txt file so this should not be happening.

Line 62:
ATI Radeon Xpress .ATI.*Radeon Xpress. 1

Aeroth Aeghin added a comment - 24/Mar/08 05:39 PM
The problem is that older versions of the ati raedon xpress are compatibale but some newer ones aren't.

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 24/Mar/08 07:09 PM
But it is matching on Xpress *, so should match any ATI Radeon Xpress card.

Aeroth Aeghin added a comment - 27/Mar/08 08:48 PM
There is a new driver update posted on March 8th that fixes this problem. This update is again for the AMD Raedon ATI 1150 integrated video card and WILL run Second Life.

Still having troubles, especially with the new version it's impossible to get in. I'm using ATI Xpress 1150, running Windows XP. Anyone with a link for "working" drivers?

KleptoKitty Constantine added a comment - 05/Jul/08 09:12 PM - edited
I have the latest ATI drivers for this card as of 7/5/08 but it still does not work. Running windows Vista.

Aeroth Aeghin can you post a link to this driver that supposedly solves the problem?

Also, might one consider upgrading this back to Showstopper status, as it specifically prevents users from logging in?

I have installed Second Life on my Fujitsu laptop and when I try to run it I ALWAYS get this error saying that

'Second Life is unable to run because your video card drivers did not install properly, are out of date, or are for unsupported hardware. Please make sure you hae the latest video card drivers and even if you do have the latest, try reinstalling them.

I have tried all this and STILL the program error pops up on my laptop. Thus I am trying to contact customer service for assistance. I hae the diagnostics attached to this so feel free to take a look. On top of all this, the video card my laptop uses is listed as a card that your site says Second Life can use. Please help me. to use this program for a class I am taking. Thanks.

I have an HP notebook with the ATI Xpress 1150. I am using the latest drivers (December 08). I am able to logon to SL; however, the performance is really bad.

I also get the warnings that the card is not supported.

It would really be nice to see this card fully supported!!!

Binah Benoir added a comment - 18/Jan/09 08:05 PM
I've the Dell Ispiron Laptop 1501 with the ATI Xpress 1150, and I am using the latest drivers (Jan. 2009). But, only able to (briefly and/ or occassionally) log into to SL, because the performance is also really bad, and like Jacques Kattun, I also get the warnings that the card is not supported.

This card was fully supported in SL in the Spring of 2008, what happened? I suspect that there are probably many SL residents that no longer particpate in SL because they can't log in-world. Please do something to correct this problem. Thanks in advance!!!

Have you tried disabling your VBO?

Here's how

1. Run Second Life from your desktop. You don't have to log in.
2. Open Edit menu > Preferences...
3. Click on the Graphics tab.
4. Click on the button for Hardware Options. Now, look for the fourth option, Enable VBO: Set this to be UNchecked. This means it is turned off.

Does this make your performance better or worse?

How is this resolved? I have the same computer and all the latest drivers. I just installed Second Life today and I have been unable to even open it from my desktop without getting the message saying my video card is unsupported. I'd really like to at least log in once!

I have a Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset updated with the latest Intel Graphic drivers and it does not work. The Minimum system requirements page says any chipset above Intel 945 should work. Am I missing something?

Has there been a solution for the ATI Radeon Xpress1150? My mouse runs smoothly throughout my laptop screen but when sl is open the mouse freezes for a couple of seconds with every movement. This happens within sl also and it makes for poor performance. Any input on this issue will be highly appreciated.. ty
