Alpha textures are opaque at a distance and the transition is ugly and unreliable

Even when I have adaptive anti-aliasing on, some objects with transparent textures will have jagged edges, while others wont. The effect is random, as you move the camera closer or farther away it will start acting normally or stop working, there doesn't seem to be any apparent reason for it. This first appeared in the WindLight First Look 1.18.5(73655) release on November 14, 2007.
