Search bar top right is a retrograde step

Much prefer the old 'bandwidth' and 'packet loss' meters. They were very useful. Sometimes the first warning that you've crashed.

If it's thought that the new 'Lag Meter' provides the same functionality, well it doesn't. It's incurably optimistic and doesn't provide worthwhile numbers.

I have to agree... While I like the new search bar, I also miss my bandwidth and packet loss meters... I would prefer to keep both, perhaps reorganizing the area above the chat bar where the volume, audio / video controls, as well as release controls, mouse look, etc buttons show up, and placing the new search bar there, instead and putting the bandwidth and packet loss meters back in the top right corner, instead of giving us another dialog to keep open on screen that doesn't provide as straightforward data as the originals did? The new "Lag Meter" is nice for those that don't want to see the more technical or detailed side that others want, but there should be a way to choose...

the bandwidth and the packet loss meters was much useful in many situations.
if you use another applications that needs bandwidth, you could see if there is some problem, when they use too much.
if you are crashing, losing internet connection or similar things, you could examine if there is any data transfer. the red minimap often takes much longer to appear and i had it that sometimes it even don't go red at all.
if you forget your draw distance too high and it loads much objects and textures you see that the bandwidth goes very high and you can take action.
only some useful situations as example.
