Experiencing the same on a MacBook Pro 2.4 Gz with Mac OS X 10.5 and the following graphics:
Chipset Model: GeForce 8600M GT Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0407 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: 3175 mine is stuck on -1008.
Using a radeon x1800 xt THANK YOU for your report! Known issue to us, I'll link this up internally so we can keep track.
I'm seeing this issue slightly differently, so I'm not sure if it's the exact same bug or not. It shows the correct amount of memory (256Mb), but the slider is way off to the left, well beyond the limits of where it should be - suggesting the slider thinks it has a negative amount.. It also doesn't let me move it, like the original report.
Same issue here. The slider was at 256mb (my VRAM) which was fine, but when I try to move it, it jumps to zero and won't budge. There is no slider "handle" visible (the bit you drag).
I had to edit the value in my settings.xml and restart firstlook =) Thanx again for your reports and helping us to make progress! This bug is fixed in the newest WindLight version -- Second Life 1.18.5 (74965). Download link and more info here:

Although the memory slider does not show negative values anymore, it now has a new bug. It shows that my max. video memory is 512, but in reality I have only 256Mb.
I will open a new Jira issue for that, with screenshot en videocard details Meni I re-open this to give attention to the new related bug (
Issues that have been resolved can (and should) be linked without re-opening them.
