This happened to one of my customers, too. As far as I can tell, they muted it accidentally because the pie menu can be twitchy at times. Busy mode also causes vendor inventory transfers to fail, so I'd also like to see this dialog appear when paying/buying from a vendor while in busy mode.
I have a similiar problem, though people keep adding me to their mute list somehow. They say they did not add me to their mute list, so I'm wondering if this is some kind of bug.
It would seem to me that if you have a person or object muted, you shouldn't be able to pay them. Or much like if you're in busy mode, it should pop up a window letting them know that you've got this object/person muted so they can't give anything to the buyer. I've seen this recently as well, came in here to find out what was causing items to not be delivered... is this a recent change? It's really getting to be a pain to keep up with the IM's of people not getting items delivered because they have mute or busy turned on.

This is happening to me too and has been more frequent in the past 2 weeks. I always find a way to solve the problem but gawd this is a time-waster !

We looked into this closer and feel it has enough overlap with VWR-1563 to be a dupe – the fundamental issue being that interacting with objects and avatars with mute on doesn't give sufficient feedback.

I agree with Sayrah, the other issue is very specific to profiles, while this is the more important issue of muting payable objects. As such I'm re-opening this and bumping its priority as it's gone on far too long to remain unfixed.
If this is fixed by a single internal Linden issue then great, but something is needed after all this time! It still happens now and then and it's annoying for customers, and for store-owners who have to replace items etc.

Is there a specific type of vendor or payable object this happens with?
I tried this on a typical networked vendor system and the object was delivered despite the vendor being muted by the buyer. Networked vendors are unaffected as the item is delivered from a different object than the one you interact with. However, if the same "server" object also dispenses informational notecards, then it would still be possible to prevent an object delivery if you muted its notecard delivery by accident.
In these cases intelligent behaviour regarding payments wouldn't help, as there's no realistic way to detect the relation between the networked vendor and server objects, in this case some way to highlight the mute button will be the better solution, e.g - by making it red. |
