I tried 3 times on 2 different machines to reproduce the same effect and each time my friends list loaded. This could have only been fixed with recent updates. This can be reopened if the issue re-appears

Kitty Barnett - 19/Nov/07 05:55 AM
This still occurs frequently (every single log-on on my other puter) with the 1.18.5 RC.

I've attached a screencap of this issue happening to me earlier today. This happens to me the first time I login after EVERY cache dump, and has been happening for over a month. I have waited for this to fix itself before, and ended up waiting over 30 minutes with an unloaded friends list.

Edit: for clarification, I'm using 1.18.4 (3), and my system is:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood (2600 MHz)
Memory: 1016 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce FX 5500/PCI/SSE2
OpenGL Version: 2.0.3
LLMozLib Version: 1.1.0 (Mozilla GRE:1.8.0.12_0000000000)

Because I was using an outdated viewer which I have now upgraded, I cleared my cache and relogged under 1.18.5 (3), reproducing the problem sucessfully.

Interesting, I wonder if this is the cause for some of the problems with SVC-85?

I was able to repro this using 1.19.0 (79185) and Windows XP SP2. My repro was the same as above: clear cache, log out, log back in.

In 1.19, after every cache clear my friends list was all there, but the entries were either (waiting) or (hippos). Relogging without clearing the cache fixed it every time. I also noticed that if I cleared cache and relogged while I still had the bugged flist, it remained bugged, which pretty much shows there's something in the cache that's to blame.

Also, I tried to repeat the consistency I got in 1.19 with 1.18.5 (3) and couldn't. One time I had only two names that showed as (waiting) and the rest of my flist was okay. The next, only four names on my entire flist showed, and they were all (waiting) or (hippos). There's a bug here, somewhere. Can anyone else reproduce this, in particular with 1.19?

The bug with 1.18 I think is just the database not responding in time for the friends list from what I've seen. However 1.19 definitely has an issue with the friends list and clearing cache since it happens every time for me.

I use the -purge command line option to clear cache automatically and it started with the first 1.19 viewer. Relogging without clearing cache and my friends list shows properly. The friends list shows the correct number of entries, the checkboxes for rights are correct, and clicking the Profile button with one selected opens the correct profile. This happens both on my main machine running WinXP, and my laptop with Vista. However it does NOT happen on either machine when I log on with my alts that only have about a dozen friends. My main account has many more friends (almost 100) so it seems to happen only if you have a lot of names in the list.

Attaching a screenshot that shows what happens to my main account.

Repro'd today after clearing cache the second time I ran the new RC, 1.19.0 (4). As stated, it does seem to crop up ONLY after clearing cache. If the stated workaround -- waiting for someone on the list to log off -- is correct, failure to repro might be related to that issue. The missing names screen remained in place for my entire (short) session, but also recall seeing no notices of log-off, despite having a fairly long friends list.

I have this problem too since upgrading to 1.19 -- it happened in 1.18 too, but the list would appear as soon as someone on it would come online or log off. With 1.19 my list never appears. I always clear my cache after logging off a session.

I just did my first cache dump under the new viewer, and sure enough I got the same result. I expect this every time I dump, and usually plan on dumping, relogging, and then relogging again immediately to fix it.

I did another cache dump today in 1.19.0 (5) and decided to not relog and let my friends list fix itself.

In the new viewer, the only way to fix the missing friends list is to relog. It will not fix itself when a friend logs in or out. I'm attaching another screenshot.

Dupe of VWR-4570

McCabe Maxsted - 10/Mar/08 05:08 PM
This is NOT a dupe. This is just one instance of the friends list stuck on (waiting), as it happens to people without clearing their cache at all too. This should be marked as related.

Alexa Linden - 17/Mar/08 01:24 PM
Duplicate of VWR-4570

McCabe Maxsted - 17/Mar/08 06:29 PM
Not a dupe. People encounter their friends lists stuck as (waiting) even without any cache clearing.

McCabe Maxsted - 20/Mar/08 05:31 AM
Has anyone tried repro'ing this with 1.19.1? I just tried under Vista and the friends list loaded fine (a first, ha!). Would love to see some confirmation.

Harleen Gretzky - 20/Mar/08 07:22 AM
Friends list loading fine for me in 1.19.1 after clearing cache!

Shattered Howlett - 29/Mar/08 01:24 PM
Actually, Lindens, if anything VWR-4570 is the dupe.

VWR-4570 was only opened in February 2008. This ticket was opened in August 2007. But, as VWR-4570 explains, some people experience the bug randomly (and this has happened to people I know without them clearing their cache, so I believe it). This ticket is specifically for people who experience it whenever clearing their cache.

McCabe Maxsted - 21/May/08 07:55 PM
Myself and others I've asked haven't been able to repro this for several versions now, so I assume whatever the bug was, it's been fixed. I'm going to resolve it.
