 Description  « Hide
Metaissue for tracking issues relating to voice and firewalls.

Known ports required for voice:

UDP: 3478, 5060, 5062 (these if blocked have the side effect of the parcel voice enabled icon spuriously reporting land as voice enabled - VWR-1908)
UDP: 12000-15999 (it is possible that only a subset of this range is really needed but failure to connect on various ports in this range have the side effect of constant "Connecting to in-world Voice Chat..." messages in chat history)

I am having serious issues with voice and linksys routers. I opened up every single port specified here, along with pretty much every other port. The result is the same every time, when someone from the same network connects, It kicks out the previously connected person on the same network.

Basically, in a nutshell, I have tried two Linksys routers, always use the latest version of Second Life, and I have three people who connect in the same network behind the router, and we can not have voice activated at the same time, cause random things happen. They are:

1. It will kick you off of voice, and put you in your own little voice section with just yourself and when you talk, sometimes others might hear you, but you hear yourself as well.
2. It kicks you out completely and the voice icon in "Local Chat"/"Near Me" turns red, and announces to you that you were disconnected.
3. It kicks you off and sometimes locks up Second Life entirely

So all these random effects end the same way... not one other person can be on voice at the same time with my Linksys router, or my other Linksys router or my Belkin Router.

ANY Information regarding this, would be super super awesome, cause we deal a lot in voice, and having all of us go to one computer and having to log off, and let the other person use voice just to talk is not only a pain, but an undesired result of SLVoice.exe not getting past some sort of firewall issue.

Praedon - Thank you I was beginning to believe that i was going nuts. I have the same issue. I reported in the following ticket #: 4051-6570176
It seems no matter what we have tried we can not log in and have voice enabled at the same time. I know of many others that access the same way we do...from the same home, and they have absolutely no issues with voice at all. We bought a new router, and played with all the other settings too. but with no luck, I am really at a loss. I really do hope that they are looking into this.

Riesling, please check with your ISP for a VOIP test to identify common problems.

Please check that you have the latest firmware for your router.

If you still have an issue, please see SVC-4639 and add your comments and vote.

Thank you : )
