 Description  « Hide
The current behaviour of the Ctrl + left mouse drag moving is imho of little use.
There are three main reasons for this statement:
  • it moves an object on the screen plane, which essentially never cooncides with any of SL´s axis planes, thus moving the object in almost arbitrary ways
  • it features no snap to grid whatsoever, moving the object freely when used accidentally
  • it shares keys with ctrl + alt + left mouse drag camera movement, thus triggering the move when one misses to get the camera shortcut right

I believe I am not alone with suggesting this, and thus would like to see the option to disable the ctrl+move command.

alternately, disabling it for non-physical objcts would likewise resolve this issue, given how it may have its uses for throwing phys objects around. yet for static objects, Ive come to experience this behaviour as pure and utter annoyance

psistorm, I believe you can do what you want by selecting an object in Edit mode, going to the Object tab and selecting "Locked" (if you don't see the Object tab, click the "More >>" button in the Edit window). This should prevent you from accidentally moving non-physical objects in this way (I tested it and it worked for me).

I used to have this problem too! The Locked checkbox really saved me a lot of pain.

thats what I was using for a while - the problem is that I cant edit the object anymore then, or anyone else.
our house is currently WIP, and thus often gets edited. and if Im away and locked the house, my bf cant edit anything :/
but ty for the input anyway!

What if we simply make it so we don't send the grab/drag message unless the object is "touch scripted?"
