Teleport Error!

LoAnna Scorpio

10/24/09-10/28/09

I have been having some serious issue with teleporting for the past four days. Where I go too teleport to Regions each time there is no "Contacting Region" it loads for about 2 minutes then "Crashes" telling me I've been logged offline and disconnected from Region. I've done all things possible too solve this issue myself:

-Clearing Caches
-Uninstalling
-Reinstalling
-Update verison 1.23.5 (including the Emerald Viewer)
-Reboot Computer
-Cleaned out computer

Still nothing has solved this issue. I would greatly Appreciate if something can be done with this issue before I invest anymore money into this Account. Thank You

Sincerely,
Secondlife Resident
LoAnna Scorpio

LoAnna, as Harleen comments on VWR-15939 please

Try double-clicking the clock in the Windows system tray (in the lower-right corner of the screen), and verify the FULL date and time. It's possible that your secure login is failing due to an incorrect date/time on your computer.

Try unplugging your router for one minute and then plugging it back in.

Please run the TraceRoute test to check for network connection issues, How do I check for packet loss (network lag)?

Objects and the terrain disappear

All of these are signs that you are (at least partially) disconnected from Second Life. While you're logged into Second Life, you're connecting to several different parts of the Second Life servers (for the region you're in, your inventory, your cash balance, etc.) It's possible to get disconnected from some parts of Second Life and not others.

  • If you're using wireless networking, you should try troubleshooting with a direct wired connection; we allow, but do not support the use of wirless network connections.
  • Try opening the Statistics bar and seeing what your Ping Sim and Packet Loss values are. The ping values are the time (in milliseconds) it takes to reach the server from your computer. If this number is high, it could indicate a problem with your network or internet connection. If Packet Loss is a nonzero number, your network or ISP may be having issues.
  • If this happens consistently after a certain period of time (like a few minutes), it's likely there's other software on your computer (firewall or internet security software) that's disconnecting Second Life., Is my firewall responsible for problems with Second Life?

Please try restoring to default settings without reinstalling Second Life, by moving all of your existing settings files to a different, temporary directory. Next time Second Life starts, it will create a new, default set of settings files. Your settings files can be found in the following location:

  • On Windows: C:\Documents and Settings[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings
  • On Mac OSX: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings

Before you log into Second Life please Clear the Cache from Outside Second Life You can check the Disk Cache location from the login screen Edit > Preferences > Network.
Log into Region Pooley, see How to appear in a different location upon login and let your Inventory fully load.

For teleporting issues, please see Davy Linden's comments in the Description on issue VWR-9999 and add your vote on that issue.
