SL RC Viewer CPU Usage excessively high when viewer is in focus. Core 0: 5%
10% +/ = Core1: 1%
5% +/ idle with SL NOT in focus whereas Core 0: 55-75% +/- = Core 1: 95-100% constant w/viewer IN focus.
This has been duplicated at each startup. Noted on TaskMan and SpeedFan usage monitors. Before AND after reinstall of RC.
All non essential processes are disabled (AVG / Seagate backup / Intervideo / Canon Print / etc).
I ensured all drivers are current and up to date (was first thing I checked / thought was issue).
Issue occurs regardless of region (several tested). Some noted performance degradation noted when attempting to Edit, Open Inventory, Open Communication panels, Preferences,et cetera.
I have 2 older sys' (1 dual core AMD w/ nVidia 7600GT- 1 Intel PIII w/ Onboard Intel Graphics) and laptop (AMD dual core w/ radeon mobile graphics) I will install RC on to see if this is an isolated issue and update as necessary.
When setting Affinity to =
Core 0 ONLY: 10-20% (viewer NOT in focus) 95-100% (IN focus) - Core 1: maintains 2-5% IN and OUT of focus.
Core 1 ONLY: 20-30% (NOT in focus) 100% continuous (IN focus) - Core 0: maintains 5%-10% IN and OUT of focus.
When running Second Life 1.23.4 (123908) Jun 11 2009 15:16:56 (Second Life Release) the issue is NOT present. Snowglobe not tested, can dload and test if needed.
If you open the Statistics Bar in the viewer (View->Statstics Bar in the menu), you can see the viewer's performance using the FPS numbers in that floater (FPS is at the top, under 'Basic'). Could you keep the statistics bar open and note viewer performance when the window is both in focus and out of focus? The viewer has a built-in throttle when it's not in focus, which reduces CPU usage but also cuts rendering performance by a significant factor.
