 Description  « Hide
SL is crashing on me all the time. My computer is big enough to handle SL but something is wrong. I have attached my PC configuration with this report. There is no one thing that stands out that could be causing this. There is no set pattern. Screen just freezes and i have to do a hard stop to turn off the computer and then reboot. I cant just close SL and then restart it.

Richey, your Graphics Card GeForce GT 120/PCI/SSE2 has been recently released by Nvidia and has not been fully investigated by the Developers. There maybe an issue with the Second Life Graphics settings.

Please attach screenshots of the Preferences > Graphics and the Hardware options windows see Attaching the screenshot to an issue

Please also run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
Vista: Click Start > (in start search) Type dxdiag > Click on the programme > Save All Information. Please attach the text file to this issue.

Before you restart Second Life, please attach your latest SecondLife log and CrashReport to this issue. This Knowledge Base article will tell you Where do I find my Second Life diagnostic logs?

Please see these articles in Knowledge Base How can I improve performance ? and How do I check for packet loss (network lag)?

If you're using wireless networking, you should try troubleshooting with a direct wired connection; we allow, but do not support the use of wireless network connections.

This article will show you how to get detailed information about the performance of your computer and the Second Life world Statistics Bar Guide

Thank you : )

I just want to ad that I am not using a wireless network. I am hardwired with cable.

Richey, becuase nothing stands out to me either, I'm gonna say this needs to go to support. They may be able to help you try things to help diagnose your system and see if they can find what's wrong and mitigate. Please go to www.secondlife.com/support and either file a support ticket, or if you can talk to the operators of the inworld live support chat.
Depending on the outcome there, you may need to reopen this jira and include any new information.

Reopening after talking to Richey. Apparently he already did talk to support, so at this point, im not sure what else to suggest or ask for other then reopen and let it run through triage.

Richey, thank you for the additional information. Please see if the following affect this issue
  • Take a look at the graphics settings in the Preferences window if you haven't already. Try moving the Quality and Performance slider to Low re How can I improve performance ?
  • Enable VBO: Enables OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects. re Graphics Preferences Layout
Tip: Enable VBO on modern hardware gives a performance gain.

Thank you : )

Supposedly a rebadge of the old Nvidia 9500, now known as the new budget GT 120
