Sometimes creating and or editing an object in-world, then attaching it from in-world will result in an object which is broken in inventory after it is detached. The object will first show up in inventory in the Objects folder, then relocate down to the bottom of inventory outside of any folder. You will not be able to rez it other than as an attachment. You will not have the ability to delete it from inventory. Once you relog (or crash as happened while trying to manipulate one of these objects) the object will be in the trashcan.
Further: The occurrence seems to be more probable when the simulator is busy. I reproed it three times while there were a number of people in the sandbox. It became more difficult to repro as the simulator population declined. My machine did experience one CTD while attempting to move one of these broken objects onto an avatar but I have been unable to reproduce the crash since.
Steps to repro:
1.Open your inventory window to the objects folder.
2.Create an object in-world. Quickly move on to step 2.
3.Attach the object in-world. Do not first take it into inventory.
4.Rt click on the object and select 'detach'.
5.Notice that the object briefly appears in the objects folder as an attachment then as an object.
6.Notice that the object then moves down to the bottom of your inventory outside of any folders.
7.Notice that after it has moved to outside the Objects folder that you can not drag the object to rez it in-world, delete it from inventory or drop it on your avatar.
8.Notice that you can select 'wear' from inventory and the object will attach.
9.Notice that when the object attaches from inventory that it will make a copy of itself in the objects folder.
10.Notice that you can 'drop' the object in-world and 'take' the copy.
11.Relog
12.The original object will be in the inventory trashcan after relog.
Observation: The object attached in-world just after creation moves into inventory in a broken state after it is detached.
Expectation: The attached object moves into inventory and resides in the Objects folder, the user can drag it out and rez it in-world, delete it, etc.
