Can anyone reproduce this? I haven't ever seen this before. Could it be IMs generated from a script near you?
It happened to me with 14 same messages* in a mail and repeated 5 times in a day.
Ive just found same kind of issue from the others blog. http://aliciachenaux.blogspot.com/2008/04/blues.html Ive done same things with her. First, I joined What I supposed to this issue? Ai Hienrichs has no idea about this issue(She said so in her profs**). *messages sample **from Ai Hienrichs prof Seems to be quite reproducible, just join the group and get the freebies, though it is hard to say which one does it, the MODEL SEARCH is from Ai Hienrichs when rezzed it only has a simple full perm give all contents scripts, that script did not seem to be the culprit. But the messages seem to correlate from the rezzing of the object.
Does not seem like an object IM, you only get it as an offline message even if you are online. Normal offline messages from an object give you the object name and location in the email. You used to get messages from objects that looked like this before the location and "The object sent you" was added to the email. But it also does not seem like a normal IM from an agent, an offline from an agent has the actual message with timestamp and avatar name, and it does not say to "Log in to see it". Also the notice from 4/6/2008 will not display in the archives, but appears to display instead of the Gentle Reminder one from 4/8/2008.
Also the "You have a message from Widget waiting for you in SL, log in to see it" is no longer sent in normal object IMs, this was the message sent prior to the object owner and location being sent, messages now look like this:
The object 'Widget' has sent you a message from Second Life: = Widget is owned by Foo Bar I get these too; I also am in the Group and got the Model Search object (which I rezzed)
I have discovered that you only seem to get these messages when you are logged in, and it seems to be within a minute or so of logging in you get the first one. Haven't worked out yet if you get more than one per session - but if you crash and relog you'd get a few... As others have said, the message goes straight to your offline email, not to your IM window in SL. Seems
To try and stop this happening, i have left the group and deleted the free items received from the notices, including notecards, attachments and object packaging, and still i receive the email when i login.
I too have been getting this e-mail, usually twice EVERY TIME I log-in to SL:
Ai Hienrichs [fldar74v3c3gnvwb2gk6tezu2cbwkum4c4577efbx3blwjhibdn5oklxhwa2tibn@im.agni.lindenlab.com] You have a message from Ai Hienrichs waiting for you in Second Life. Log in to see it. You have a message from Ai Hienrichs waiting for you in Second Life. Log in to see it. I have left her group Linked to SVC-269 "Sending an instant message to an object using llInstantMessage will result in an email to the owner, if owner is offline and IM->Email is checked in preferences" as I think they may have related causes?
I've just realised, and I don't appear to have got an IM from Ai Hientrichs since Saturday (26th), when I think there was a sim upgrade/restart? So it sounds like maybe a Sim restart will fix this bug.
Hi, I like to thank Skinkie Winkler in bringing this up. I have personally received the emails in my mailbox too and 2 things that I definitely did not do. No. 1 take the freebie because I received it directly from the creator in a folder. No 2. joined the model search because I am running it...and I am still receiving the offline messages. It also does not make sense for me to send offline messages to myself...so it is a huge possibility that there is a bug in the system or server where this group sits in. Sometime last week, I have started receiving another spam offline messages from another group called DiSSENT.
(I will include the content of the email in another comment because I am typing in SL Media Browser which does not have cut and paste feature) I did not even join this group and when I check under Search, this Group does not even exist. I search for the owner of the group and same thing nothing show up. Same thing, I did not take any freebie from any store except joining the Stiletto Moody Group the day before the email starts coming...but I could not related Stiletto Moody with the DiSSENT group. I have logged a total of 4 tickets with Linden on both cases but this is not getting me anywhere. I am only given standard reply and the funny thing is I am advisable to report the abuse. This is driving me crazy indeed. I hope this issue will be resolved soon. This is the content of the other spam mail I have received and this one provides SLURL too but if you search for the group and owner, both do not exist.
The object 'DiSSENT' has sent you a message from Second Life:testGREETINGS, THIS IS DiSSENTi0N. WITNESS THE RAW POWER OF OUR NEW SEKRIT WEAPON. ALSO, HERE IS COPYBOT: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2YS97TVB DiSSENT is owned by Bellatra Kips= http://slurl.com/secondlife/Barcola/18/128/38 Hello!
I receive one of these emails everytime I log off SL... sometimes more than one..... just to let you know... XOX i had to mute her to stop receiving 2 of these messages each time i log in/out of SL
I receive messages saying "You have a message from [Ai Hienrichs] and [Take Lowey] and [Shando Qunhua] waiting for you in Second Life. Log in to see it."
I seem to get them each time I log on to Second Life which on a particularly crash'y day can mean up to 30 or more spam emails which I can't effectively mark as spam without sending ALL messages from Second Life to my junk folder. I use the current released viewer and the RC viewer - it happens with both. I've not yet worked out how to reproduce this as it doesn't seem to affect every person that has joined the seemingly related groups. I get atleast 10 of these offlines a day and it has become a real issue i dont even know who Ai is im sure she is a great girl but gettin these offlines and gettin my ims capped from these starts to drive me insane please Linden Labs take care of this issue
Thanks a Bunch... I don't get the messages saying the above names. I get them from the owner of Curious Kitties, Ameshin Yossarian. And yes, anywhere from two to a half-dozen, every time I'm not in-world.
Possibly this is an accidental occurence of
I don't think your IM will be capped because there is no in-world messages sent at all. To resolve this, please get your friends and those affected by this issue to vote for this to be resolved by Linden. We only have 32 votes so far and we need more....and ironically, I am glad to know this is not the only problem face by me alone.
This is the latest reply I have received from Linden. I've tried and it's dissapointing and again I did not send those messages. Have nothing to do with if I am a great or not so great person. I did not sent those messages.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Hello, Thank you for your ticket, I see that from looking into this further these emails should have stopped, If there are anymore issues related to this ticket then please reopen this ticket. Kind Regards JonathanP Linden Lab Support This has been happening to me for quite awhile now after joining the MUISM group. A new message appears in my email inbox every time I log into SL. Very frustrating! Come on Lindens, let's get this fixed!
I am in a group [ida] with Ai Hienrichs. I may have been in the MUISM group for a very short time, but I don't remember. I am also in the Maitreya group with her, but just joined that after the issue started. I seem to get at least 5-10 messages like this a day. It doesn't matter if i'm logged in or not. and I never get anything inworld, it just ALWAYS goes straight to my email. I have changed emails and it still delivers to my new one as well.
I' I am getting these emails at least 5 times a day for the past week. I am getting them from a friend of mine but she not sending me any messages and I never receive them when I am in world. They are also not there there when I log in - I just get them in my email. It is not a result of any groups I've joined either. I have submitted an AR.
Marimar Berchot I am owing the group, Diamond grey and after useing the group notice, then I have been getting the emails several times a day like this "You have a message from ryoku Noel waiting for you in Second Life. Log in to see it." for the past week or more. I have never sent IM to me! And now worrying about these were sent to not only to the members of my group but others who i do not know in SL. Please stop it as soon as possible.
I receive multiple mails everyday saying that I have IM's waiting from Ai Hienrichs inworld.
I used to be a member of the Muism group. I've encountered this for the first time as of yesterday (3rd July). In the, nearly, two days I have had 12 emailed notices, whether I am logged in or not, lacking any text apart from the standard "You have a message...." apparently sent from two different store owners: sato Yifu of KUROTSUBAKI and Kao Sands through the ::iTutu:: group. Forgot to say I am a member of both store groups
I have tried to speak with Kao Sands, and sent a notecard to sato Yifu, but sadly I do not have Japanese to explain the issue properly and I have only just found this logged report. I haven't opened any group gifts from either group in 4 weeks but I have opened notecard attachments from the group notice history (now deleted from my inventory but not the group notice history) but the issue seems to be affecting both nonetheless. 06/07/08. This issue is still occurring for me, although limited now to 2 IM notices being received in email (one for each av) on log-in. I have changed the title of this report as it has been occurring outside of one group or av. I will update in comment if this issue does become resolved by the rolling restart that is scheduled on 8th-10th July. Belochka -> I suspect that the said IM contained Japanese characters and got stuck in the queue... See my comments in
Yukinoroh thank you, I've added my vote to
Edit This issue now seems to be have been resolved for me by the recent rolling restarts due to the change in server code from 1.23 to 1.22.4. I cannot be certain which element of the re-starts or server code were the deciding factor but as of 06/12 the IMs from both groups are not being received via my email on log-in. I receive multiple mail everyday.
You have a message from Aslan Kish waiting for you in Second Life. Log in to see it. The E-mail has reached since Sat, 5 Jul 2008 01:53:52 -0700 (PDT). Aslan doesn't send me the message. It is at the following points that I noticed from this mail.
[I logged in Taernils Bluff] [I logged in DHSL01] [I logged in Jabara Land]
[13 Jul 2008] [14 Jul 2008] [15 Jul 2008] [16 Jul 2008] [17 Jul 2008] (Time that the mail address changes is 00:00 PDT) This problem has relapsed after doing mojibake by maintenance.
(http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2009/01/22/post459/ *mojibake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojibake I have received mail at each login now. I have been getting an im in my email for several months now which never appears in SL when I log in. However, every time I log in to SL this im appears in my email. It is a group invitation that was sent to me many months ago.
This happened to me last year where I kept getting an old im in my email from a resident that I also received in SL at one time. There is an old JIRA issue on this and Customer service had me file an AR to fix it. How do I get rid of this IM? Leuleuche Oyen has invited you to join a group. Closing as cannot reproduce as this was likely fixed in
