Beginning yesterday, after having 1.23 open for 20 mins or so the menus and surrounding screen turns black. So text is black on black and I'm unable to read my chat text.

KawaiiNicole, please copy and paste the full details from Help > About Second Life including the Region(s) where you have this issue, your Graphics Card and Windows Graphics Driver Version.

When you have this issue, please close the Viewer and before you restart Second Life, please attach your latest SecondLife log and CrashReport to this issue. This Knowledge Base article will tell you Where do I find my Second Life diagnostic logs?

Same is happening to me with 1.23 client. I switched back to 1.22 and no problems!! http://twitpic.com/4xgix of screenshot.

I've since noticed my screen turns black when video is auto played.

KawaiiNicole, please see these articles in Knowledge Base How can I improve performance ? and How do I check for packet loss (network lag)? Please also see this article for suggestions for Turning off WindLight rendering.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. Nvidia have recently released Version:185.85 Release Date: May 06, 2009

If you're using wireless networking, you should try troubleshooting with a direct wired connection; we allow, but do not support the use of wireless network connections.

Streaming media can be enabled if you want to listen to music and watch movies inworld; disable it if you don't have a fast enough Internet connection

This appears to be the same issue as the related ones. I don't have the trouble when I use the regulare viewer only Release Candidate 1.23. I am telling you about this now so it won't happen when this becomes the real viewer. I will attache a screenshot as soon as I can get it to happen again.
