Semi-transparent skins bake make-up very differently in 1.23, seemingly with much greater opacity than before. Even with opacity of 0, make-up is still very apparent.
Attached image shows two pictures: on the left, a semi-transparent skin worn by an avatar in 1.22; on the right, same skin, same settings, with the avatar in 1.23.
NOTE: Both pictures were taken from another viewer running 1.22. It is not the display of the skin that differs with 1.23, but the baking, and is evident to other viewers regardless of version.
I tried it on another alpha skin with the same result, but it did not happen on a non-alpha skin.
[ CORRECTION: It does happen on non-alpha skins. Sorry for any confusion. -QN ]
Thanks for all your feedback! We realize that our current implementation breaks a lot of content and that this simply is not acceptable. We are working on a solution, and will not leave the problem in the current state. -Nyx Linden
There is a proposed fix in the code that will be RC1, if the testing goes well. Note that this issue is just for the layering issue of makeup, freckles, and eyebrows. The eyelashes bug is VWR-13051, and invisibility bugs should also have their own JIRAs - Nyx

[ Asking content creators prior to changing this would have been a small step in the right direction.
Reverting back to original settings should stand, and next time some showstopper changes are on the stove,
ask for input!
Of all the assinine, non-customer related, harebrained steps to "IMPROVE" our experience, this one takes the cake.

[ i've got sparkling fairy dust eyelashes with nasty mascara that when i take the slider to 0 they still look like they are at 20 and the lipstick looks like a house painter brushed it on lol, all i can do is crack up and find another, getting pissed off about it won't help, myself i cant do anything to solve the problem anyway, yes it is about L100,000 in skins i can't use and 'course it's all my best ones, not much to do but kick back and wait for a work around or a fix, oh yeah, this all started with a "unibrow" that when i changed the bald base went to lookin like a Marx bro lol, oh yes i forgot to say what wonderful job of f'n up all the hard work the designers in SL have done:)

[ I don't know if it matters or not but i figured my loss in USD as 90% of the skins are no mod and it came out around $1,500 USD, L$2,500 worth of skins at a time add up kinda fast and this is my main av i did'nt even feel like figuring this out for my alts, "feature", did you even get any input from the designers? from who i see commenting and what is said i think not, i kinda re-thought things when i did'nt feel like logging in to look like crap i have other worlds to log into where my money will be better spent, till this is resolved i'll just watch my e-mail and not waste my time, next time please get some input from the ppl who have to deal with this. i really do understand the use of the PN and RC is to bring things like this out but next time if you know something like this might happen a heads up would be nice,if ppl know this might result you might not have as much of negative feed back from ppl saying WTF is this. one last edit, could you please send me some "white face", if i'm gonna be a clown i'd like to do it right.
Thanx

Thanks for all your feedback! We realize that our current implementation breaks a lot of content and that this simply is not acceptable. We are working on a solution, and will not leave the problem in the current state. -Nyx Linden

There is a proposed fix in the code that will be RC1, if the testing goes well. Note that this issue is just for the layering issue of makeup, freckles, and eyebrows. The eyelashes bug is VWR-13051, and invisibility bugs should also have their own JIRAs - Nyx

[ @ Nyx: thank you for pointing me to VWR-10351 to report about my mascara eyelashes which I shouldn't have. But I suppose that the problem of disappearing shoe soles is pertinent to this issue.
