I think, the group date is refered to the creation of server .. and you see on the group, the notice is created on 2009.

(Yeay temporel vortex on second life, "back of future game!")

Thanks for reporting this! We noticed the same bug in testing, as well, and are tracking it so we can fix it.

I installed the new 1.23 update last night. And today I sent out group notices that had a January 1, 1970 date!

EddyFragment Robonaught added a comment - 01/May/09 08:19 PM
Me too. Same date as well. Very freaky.

Times on notices used to be displayed in local time.
There is a proposal for changing that to SL (PDT) time. (VWR-1854)
There's also a proposal for making everything GMT. (SVC-1385)
With the fix for this bug times on notices are shown in GMT.

So I reopen this issue to ask: is GMT the expected behaviour now?

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 09/May/09 12:48 PM
I certainly think GMT makes more sense as a single standard time zone than Pacific Time. (And only Windows disagrees, it will used PDT as the default if you don't tell it differently). But lets be clear if we really mean GMT or British Time, which implements a "daylight savings" scheme. The difference between Pacific Time and GMT varies during the year.

But we need to make up our minds. Today some times are adjusted to viewer local and some are not. Let's get sensible, please. I would love to see all date/time values adjusted to viewer local. But I don't expect that to be implemented correctly.

Harleen Gretzky added a comment - 09/May/09 01:41 PM
It appears to mean GMT as in the time zone of UTC, not British Time, it is currently displaying as 7 hours ahead of PDT, it would be 8 since it is British Summer Time now if it were British Time.

Borg Capalini added a comment - 09/May/09 03:03 PM
Personally I'm for all the times in the viewer being set to Pacific Time, but this issue was not meant to cover that. This issue was related to the time stamps on group notices saying Thursday, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT. This has been fixed, so I am therefore closing this issue again. For comments on what time zone to use see the jira's this issue relates to please.
