since about 5 months i get realy bad spikes and graphics deformations. sometimes bits of the avatar are missing or the face "melts".i first thought its the new viewer but after i tested the new, then an older and now the release version i dont think thats the problem. i also updated my graphics card but after that it got even worser and my login screen got black and white and all weird too. so i completely removed windows and played it up new but nothing changed.cleaning out the case doesnt help either, lowering the volume of various stuff in preferences doesnt help either.enable/disable VBO doesnt help or makes it worser. i dont know what to do anymore.sometimes its so bad that i can see absolutely nothing.

Lynaja, thank you for reporting this. Please see the main issue VWR-3258 and add your comments and vote.

Please also check with your Graphics Card manufacturer for an updated version of the graphics drivers. ATI have recently released Catalyst 9.4 OpenGL 2.1.8577. There are some issues with this Catalyst, please see the links on Meta Issue VWR-12080, so you might like to try Catalyst 8.12 OpenGL 2.1.8304.

Turning off WindLight rendering.

2. If you still see glitches, try to disable 'Vertex Buffer Objects' (VBO)

An extra step that can help (in some cases) is to turn off VBO. This is done in the Hardware Options of your Graphics preferences, because this is a setting on your graphics card.

Here's how

1. Run Second Life from your desktop. You don't have to log in.
2. Open Edit menu > Preferences...
3. Click on the Graphics tab.
4. Click on the button for Hardware Options. Now, look for the fourth option, Enable VBO: Set this to be UNchecked. This means it is turned off.

Thank you : )

hi and thank you for ur post. its realy nice that ur writing me about the VBO stuff but like i said in my description, i tried that and it only gets worser or changes nothing.

i tried to find the new ATI open gl driver u wrote about. im on windows xp home edition with a RADEON X1950 PRO CARD and amd doesnt show me any new updates for my grafics card that i didnt try yet. the latest version on their homepage is 9.3.
i also searched for hours for catalyst 8.12 open Gl but couldnt find anything that worked.
realy, im not a computer genious and iam not rich. a mouse in my pocket would starv.i cant get a new graphics card.

so im still where i started 5 months ago.

i would be realy tankfull for links ect and helpful posts to solve this problem because im not the only one with it, but i guess this wont happen that quick ----->https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258 this treat started in november 2007. now we got 2009.

thank you! : )

this is an issue that i'm quite fedup with. i've had to resort to just planting my av on my sim as i'm only able to do im's. it's a problem that has existed now for over 2 years & nothing being done, just the same 'turn vbo off, lower settings'
hello...this does not work, it's not a fix & it's annoying as hell. people get seizures from this crap. it's not fun. as a builder & someone who runs a business this is a real tick off considering i'm paying my 295 a mth tier & i can't even do my own business.

i dont even think anyone reads this anymore. i keep lookubf at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258 and nothing happens there either. no solutions and its getting worser. last days its so worse that i can see nothing on my screen anymore. i cant build propper nor go to visit shops or anything.
its all realy disapointing annoying and sad and its getting on my nerves. im will try the cool viewer now and see if that works but i doubt. i kinda think this is a server problem but i got not realy any clue. would be nice if somebody could gimme my sl back
