Avatars have difficulty crossing SIM boarders to adjacent SIMs. Avatars become trapped in a looping process that appears to be uncontrolled flight. The duration of these "free flights" are from 30<> secs to several minutes<> often ending in system crashes. This problem is especially apparent with avatars equipped with vehicles. "Sit here" has little effect on these looping processes. It is possible to TP away from these problems using the the Map, though this "work around" often fails as well.
  • Possibly an I/O speed problem. Reducing mouse sensitivity does in a limited way (10%>) improve performance and reduces the problem.
  • Move more information to client side of service freeing up server resources for these baton passes between SIMs.
  • Faulty algorithm in software causing loop.
  • Too much data is being handled by one server group. New equipment is needed with more and faster processors.

Note: this is not generalized "ground lag" that can effect an avatar within a SIM. Often characterized by the AV sinking into the ground. This is a separate issue caused by some unidentified weakness in the grid..

Nothing ruins the experience here more then this issue. This 'is" the show stopper, at times literally.

What you perceive as movement is just the client acting as if the avatar is still moving, based on its last speed and direction. It does this all the time when you walk around, to simulate a fluit motion, instead of jumping forward on each network packet being sent. Walk forward, then pull your network cable out. You will see the same effect.

In reality the avatar is standing at the sim edge, trying to cross, and the sims are shoveling data back and forth. What your visitors are experiencing are normal sim crossing delays, and if your visitors get huge delays and disconnects repeatedly, it can have various reasons:

1. Your visitors are trying to cross while wearing huge amounts of prims and scripts. Every prim and script increases the time of teleports and sim crossings
2. What is the state of your sims? Are they burdened and time dilated? Low sim performance can drastically increase the chances of sim crossing failures. (see ctrl+shift+1 to watch the stats. 'sim fps' and 'time dilation' are what you want to look at in each sim)

For account-specific help please Submit a Ticket with Support see JIRA issue posting guidelines

Thank you : )

Yes, I understand this is an illusion in an illusionary world.

1. Your visitors are trying to cross while wearing huge amounts of prims and scripts. Every prim and script increases the time of teleports and sim crossings

Far more is being passed at these junctures then an AV, it's attire and objects.

2. What is the state of your sims? Are they burdened and time dilated? Low sim performance can drastically increase the chances of sim crossing failures. (see ctrl+shift+1 to watch the stats. 'sim fps' and 'time dilation' are what you want to look at in each sim)

This is not a SIM specific issue it's SL wide; it happens randomly throughout SL.

Like "SIM boarder lag" this issue seems to have been passed yet remains stuck in a loop. (Lets call it "JIRA loop lag")

Thank you for time on this issue.
