The reason the classified isn't showing is because the classified is marked as mature content and you didn't check the 'include mature content' box when dong the search. I did the search with mature content checked and your classified showed up.
I found it was a "mature" setting I placed on my ad. This is not an issue any longer.
UPDATE: This is a problem again. I too pay a substantial amount for my classified and if this problem is not corrected by the end of this weekend will cancel it until it is. ADDITIONAL COMMENT: Is Linden Labs working on this issue, or are we all just chatting about it in this Jira? I'm re-opening this because there are currently no classifieds showing up in the "all" tab of search.
See attached screenshot "jira-no-classifieds.png" for search for "shoes".
Having the same problem, with the latest client (not able to start it up as I am at work). Bene like this for a few days. They show in web seach, not in client.
Please try clearing your Web Browser Cache, Edit > Preferences > Web > Browser Cache > Clear Now and see if this resolves your issue.
markbyron, please see the "environment" field for complete details. I replaced the original poster's environment with my own, since it was posted when 1.22 was still a release candidate.
I first saw this a few weeks ago and asked on Group Chat if anyone else was seeing it. They weren't.
I tried searching for "skins" or other things that wouldn't need Mature checked. It seemed to disappear, then appeared again a couple of nights ago. I've noticed it seems to happen when SL is very busy, and I wondered it if was something to do with LL optimising at times of high load - not acceptable, but a possible explanation? I haven't tried clearing the Web Browser Cache, so will do that tonight. The problem is clearing the cache is only a temporary fix, in a few days it will be right back to missing. This started occuring around the time LL made some back-end changes to search, such as removing the ability to use client_search.php to do searches.
Clearing the browser cache fixed the problem for me, but it's not really a fix. Classifieds are not visible for an unknown number of people. I can think of nothing that'd be in the cache that should cause classifieds to not display. I'm not aware of any don't-show-classifieds setting that could accidentally get there, so I'm leaving this open as a bug.
Clearing the browser cache worked for me too... ill post here in a several days as well...
one day after, and it is not working again...
The cache trick lasted five days for me. Broken again.
Yes, i usually check my classifieds once or twice a week, and usually have to clear the cache, once or twice a week.
Same here - i watch this now since Beginning of March, dont know about the possibilitie to post here, so i sent tickets and used lifechat.
I am watching every day the search, and write down the daily results of the classifieds (how much teleports, view maps, view profiles) Isay the same as the opener of this message - this is inaccecpatble - we pay for something we dont get, we did pay for a service we have yet to receive & feel as a goodwill gesture on the part of Linden Lab that I should at the very least receive the weeks lost in classifieds complimentary. Communication with Support: First Ticket: this followed a lifechat: I use v1.23 nightly Build and this keep happening, no classified at all, unless you look under the classified section of the search. this is pretty bad as many (myself included) pay for that service that now doesnt work anymore and we keep paying for it.
I'd appreciate to be refunded for all the time this issue is happening, over a month. Last 2 weeks i could see sometimes the classifieds on right side of all search, but most time not - see screenshot from today (29th of April 2009) - i will integrate than
We ourself decided to stop our high paid classifieds (35.000 up to 60.000 l$ per week) Screenshot from 29th of april 2009
I have a PG store with not even a single kissing ball....and though my classified shows up on the side..I am no longer listed in the All Search either. Does it mean if I stop all my classifieds my stores will now show up in ALL search? I have had this store on the same sim for over a year in a half...this is so discouraging
adding...I cleared my web cache and it still does not show. And my sim is a PG sim...always has been. clearing my web browser cache is NO solution at all...so what it it makes my ads visible to me...it wont make them visible to protential customers....which is the entire point of having a paid classified ad...
This affects the grid...and so should be critical... Temporal Mitra I noticed the same problem, and just assumed it took a while for classifieds to appear. Then I tried it in a friend's store - even with the "enable mature content" ticked (his shop is on mature land, but there's no mature content in the ad) it didn't work. Then I tried doing something really generic - just typing "furniture" in the search box. STILL no paid classifieds.
Clearing web cache did work for me - but as Temporal says, how many of my customers will do this regularly? Until this is fixed, there seems little point in paying for classified ads that customers won't actually see. i have to state, they have not shown for me for a while, either. it's frustrating when you don't see the ads...i do not see them on kittyn fuhr, but i see them on kittyn petshop, and a couple of other alts...it's weird, when i use the same client, same sim, same search result, and one can see, and one can't.
Added Screenshot from may 30, please this should be an issue that gets top priority or at least some sort of money back, people spend a LOT of money on ads, and most people specially new residents only search on the ALL tab.
Please solve ASAP. This might be connected to http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13068
This issue is related however
Thanks for your reports. This is a sporadic issue, and we are working to isolate the cause. We will update here as more information becomes available.
This is affecting my business for months, ive reduced drasticly the amount i used to pay in classified because of this "BUG" before making new feature available you should really make sure no BUG stay behind on the basic stuff, especially stuff your customers pay for.
I am having the same issue now that I moved to the Second_Life_1-23-4-123908_Setup. Any answer to this issue yet?
I just installed the 1.23 viewer and have the same issue. The classifieds show up if I scroll down a tad, but only then. Perhaps this helps.
So basically Linden Lab is taking money for advertising from around the world over the internet and is not delivering the services paid for nor are they paying any attention to this defect.
It is time to take this into the public and get a few hundred thousand people aware of this and raising a ruckus over it. There is a federal agency that might become real interested in Linden Research if the issues related to money are not given top priority. Ann, I tried making people aware and that went nowhere. People check for themselves, find they don't have the problem and diminish the fact that you do have it. The worse part isn;t that I had the problem, it's that it's unknown how many people do have it. How many people will even notice something's wrong when classified ads don't show up? And when was the last time you complained there wasn't enough advertising?
That said, I haven't had this problem in a while, either. Better check right now to see if I just cursed it Nope, still not having this problem. I'm getting this bug all the time. I cleared browser cache an hour ago. The classified appeared. Now, an hour later, they are gone again. So from my point of view it's anything but sporadic, Liana. Any progress on the issue?
Edit: If I was one of those people paying hundreds of thousands of L$ for classifieds, I'd be probably very angry by now. My store is non-mature content and is marked as such yet my classified ads aren't showing up. I've stopped all advertising until this is fixed.
Payment received for no services rendered? The inactions by LL on this are tantamount to THEFT!
Issue needs to be fixed ASAP
Quote: "Ann, I don't know who has a public office hour that would cover this issue. I do know, however, because I looked at it earlier today, that this issue has been the subject of ongoing discussion internally. I saw that it was updated yesterday. I'll ask someone to comment on the PJIRA issue." - Q Linden, Aug 29, 2009 2:23 PM
This is something that we've been looking at, but we're having a very difficult time reproducing the issue... making it hard to track down the cause.
Do you only see this bug when searching on the All tab inworld? Or do you also see it on http://search.secondlife.com? Any info you can give us to help us figure it out is appreciated. Thank you! I see this problem on http://search.secondlife.com
I see this problem with my main and with the one alt I tried Once it starts happening it happens for every search term until I clear cache Edit: BTW I'm having this problem right now and I haven't cleared cache, so if there's something you want to check in my account on your side, have at it. Edit 2: It is add block plus that is blocking classifieds at search.secondlife.com. When disabled, they show in firefox. Clearing cache has no effect on my system regardless of account. The ads simply never show up in the All tab in world. I see the ads in the web page search.
After a clean reinstall of the client the ads begin to show up. After the first search the delay in loading the classifieds begins to get a litle longer. So I guess I get to keep count of how many times to run the client until they stop showing. Unless, of course, something on the back end has been changed and a clean reinstall now fixes it permanently. I can confirm what anya said. It happens for every search term I tried, and it happens for alt account as well.
You probably already know that, but the culprit is the http://vwrsearch.secondlife.com/_scripts/jquery-1.2.3.min.js
The bug seems to be somewhere inside the llMozLib (or deeper), not in the viewer itself. So if you are unable to fix the actual cause, you might at least use some dumb workaround, like clearing the browser cache at every viewer startup or preventing the jquery-1.2.3.min.js file from being cached. Internal browser cache files for reproducing the no-classifieds bug in all search.
I attached the cache files that can be used to reproduce the bug.
Repro steps: 1) Quit SL viewer. Bonus steps: 1) Redirect the viewer search URL to http://vwrsearch.secondlife.com/_scripts/jquery-1.2.3.min.js this has been fixed if u need more support pleasepost a reopen sourse on this form thank you
Reopening because this was not resolved by Linden Lab and because most likely a viewer code change is required.
Linden Lab is welcome to post what they did to fix it when Linden Lab resolves fixed. Banker, do you have reason to believe this was resolved? What is your source, please?
Clearing web cache did work for me. The Emerald Viewer does not have this problem. If they have a fix, why doesn't the LL viewer. I thought to come here to get my question answered, but how many shoppers who look at ads will think to do that or to step to the next tab and search in classifieds. The suggestions on how to clear your browser cache to see paid classifieds or search in classifieds is not offered on the All page. This is truly an injustice to the people who pay for ads and tier for shops.
Considering the silence, my uneducated guess is that LL will not bother fixing it, because so-called Viewer 2.0 will not be using llMozLib (as far as I know), so chances are the problem will fix itself. In a few months...
