It's common now to hide sculptmaps from public view by making them full alpha - this way they can't be cheaply printscreened and reuploaded and used as full permission. However, while this method works, it also impedes use of the alpha layer for actual data, for example, there is talk about using it for flexible spine data in
VWR-9203 .
This jira requests that an official method of visually hiding of sculptmaps from printscreening theft be provided. This would save one channel of unused information being used on future sculptmaps, and also free it up for other legitimate uses without the need to worry about printscreen theft.
