 Description  « Hide
Viewer starts to load, gets as far as Detecting Hardware, then disappears. Task manager does not shopw SL in Applications, does show it in Processes. Attempting to re-launc produces a message that SL is already running, find the Taskbar item and maximize it. Killing SL process with Task manager then re-launching produces message about SL crashing the previous launch and offers to send aa crash dump, which I do. I cannot get to "Help -> About" as I get no viewer window.

Hal, if you are running Windows Vista OS, please set the color scheme to Windows Vista standard or Windows Vista Basic under Control Panel > Personalisation > Window Color and Appearance,

Please try the latest RC Viewer which can be downloaded from here Release Candidate Test Viewers

If this is still an issue please post a Ticket with Support for account-specific help

Changing color scheme Vista Basic or Windows Standard makes no difference, results are as before, except that the viewer no longer detects that it is running and will launch additional processes that go through "Detecting Hardware", then Clearing Cache", then it vanishes. Task Manager shows multiple SecondLife processes in memory all doing nothing; I currently have 7 instances shown on the precesses tab of Task manager. This behavior is identical for both 1.21.6.99875 and for release candidate 1.22.9.110075. Processes must be manually ended with Task Manager. After doing so, the next launch of SL produces the message "Second Life appears to have frozen or crashed on the previous run, would you like to send a crash report?" to which I click Yes, the report sends, SL attempts to launch as above, then vanishes as above.

I'm not convinced this is an account issue because I have 1.21.6.99875 installed on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 notebook computer, also runnung Vista Ultimate (constrained by hardware to the Vista Basic color scheme) and I have absolutely no trouble launching and running the SL viewer, nor do I have any login difficulties - SL runs flawlessly on this machine, just slowly due to the older, slower processor and half the RAM as the desktop machine I'm attempting to setup.

Account-specific does not necessary mean limited to your SL account (though it can), it can also mean limited to your specific environment. Meaning if you are the only one with Vista Ultimate SP1 - MSi KT4 Ultra - AMD AthlonXP 2700+ - 2GB Ram - ATi Sapphire RAD1650/512/AGP having this issue.

Hal. please see this article in Knowledge Base When I start Second Life, the crash logger comes up briefly, then it disappears. Second Life never loads. What do I do?
