hey, thanks for your response.. but don't just come here and close the issue and try to make it all seem nice nice, this is not just some minor problem on my computer that's caused by some rookie mistake like oh say.. just not updating the graphics card. I've heard this exact same "cut paste" answer before, thanks I understand it I know your use to people just making random tickets in here about some small problem thats already been solved some 1000 times but like I said, This is much different as I've gone through the trouble of testing this issue on both the HD 4650 and the HD 4670.
and If you have nothing more to tell me then whats already here 4051-5731415 (omg a ticket number) then please refrain from just making a typical comment on the problem. what I'm looking for is someone with knowledge on how Second Life works with the computers graphics card rather then just a troubleshooter who will just tell me to update my graphics card, update my software, contact the company, make sure graphics card is not broke because its up to date, its not broken and I've told ATI that there is some compatibility problems with Second Life and their card. and for your convince here is "my environment" for you... pretty way of putting "computer specs" Second Life 1.21.6 (99587) Oct 14 2008 17:42:25 (Second Life Release) CPU: AMD (Unknown model) (2210 MHz) I had the exact same issue as you, Pawz, but so far it seemed that downloading the latest Release Candidate Viewer has solved it. Things went from running horrible to running beautiful.
Here's my details: Second Life 1.22.8 (109366) Feb 1 2009 13:13:47 (Second Life Release Candidate) CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad-Core (1800 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3 I found if you ignore the warning about the card with the 1.21 client, then go into graphics settings you can crank everything to maximum, and in hardware options turn on AF and 16AA without any problems.
I have done this with the last few 1.21 clients, on XP 32 and 64 with an Asus HD4670 512MB card , and the last 8.x Catalyst driver. I haven't tried Catalyst 9.1 yet. I guess it could be a vista-only issue? ATI have released Catalyst 9.4 (4/8/2009). Please test the new drivers and add a comment.
Thank you : ) I am running Vista with this card, and I haven't been able to get it to run. It will download some stuff and my avatar but I have no control and soon shuts down saying there's a problem with the region I'm in.
I am running the most recent release candidate. I am using the most recent Catalyst. I have tried cranking up graphics to maximum. Below find my stats and the logs. Any ideas? This article will show you how to get detailed information about the performance of your computer and the Second Life world Statistics Bar Guide For technical, time-sensitive and/or Region/Account specific issues please Submit a Ticket with Support Thank you : ) Thanks for your advice. With regard to wireless access, the only thing I'll say is that I was able to run SecondLife marginally well on a laptop 5 years old using the same network, so I was hoping that a new desktop would be much better. Unfortunately can't try with a wired connection because we actually "sublet" our connection from our upstairs neighbors!
I have followed up on the links you sent this is what I have now: I checked the I do meet the min. sys. reqs., though my graphics card isn't explicitly supported. I did switch the overall performance to low My statistics bar gives: I ran winmtr on sim2946.agni.lindenlab.com and got the message: I read somewhere that winmtr might not work on Vista, so I tried the command line: pathping -n sim2946.agni.lindenlab.com The return was: Any ideas about what may be going on? Thanks for any help. Transparent. |
