 Description  « Hide
Lighting sources, such as from the Sun or the moon, as well as from local lighting sources, pass through all opaque objects as if they weren't there. This makes lighting (especially since it is impossible to direct lights in any specific direction) very obnoxious, such as in the case of lamps or especially in the case of facelamps. At sunrise and sunset this also casts too much red and orange lighting into buildings.

Until shadows are introduced to SL, this is expected behaviour.
