Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-2881

 Description  « Hide
This seems to be a problem for any type of object, not just notecards, as used in the following repro.

Repro:
1) Create a new notecard in the inventory (leave the notecard editor's window open)
2) Open the Properties dialog of the notecard via the inventory (right-click the new note, Properties)
3) Change the name of the note to anything
4) Close the Properties window.

  • The name in both the notecard editor's title bar and the inventory stay the same, and do not update.
    5) Start to rename the notecard via the inventory (right-click the notecard -> rename).
  • The pre-filled name is the correct (new) name
    6) Press "Enter" without changing the name
  • Both the inventory and the notecard editor window's title update to the correct name.

Expected: The inventory and notecard editor window's title both update at the end of step 4.

I ran into this just yesterday. It's rather annoying and confusing.

I've been running into this with every Mac client version since I joined on April 1st but just keep forgetting to report it. Voted.

Linked to SVC-267.

I think this is a much older issue, I recall this months ago. Infact, checking internal records, a similar problem was fixed in 1.7 (ages ago) as SL-896, and looks like it's back. I'll import this internally and bring it to the attention of our fine devs in Studio Blacklight (focusing on Resident pain points like this).

GREAT repro, Celierra – awesome to see you, Lex, and Aimee all onboard this issue!

Confirmed, I can reproduce it on 1.17.0 (12) on WIndows XP.

I can reproduce it even if I close the notecard editor's window.

I'm still able to repro this in 1.17.2:
  • Rez a cube.
  • Take it.
  • Right-click the cube in inventory, select Properties, and change name to "ObjectX".
  • Observe: Name doesn't change in inventory.
  • In Properties window, change name to "ObjectXY".
  • Observe: Name now changes in inventory.
= Expected: Renaming via properties should sync up correctly all times.

I think the "(and other)" should be in the title? As mentioned before, some things, such as a notecard editor's title bar, also don't update correctly.

Fixed in the 1.19 RC.
