 Description  « Hide
Mute gestures. Audio and text.

Hang around a welcome center for a while and you may get tired of the bodily noises gestures.
But then there is no end to the bad taste gestures and the gestures that really serve no purpose except to grief.
And then in gathering places it is frequently difficult to tell what is real communications.

We have the option to mute attached local lights so we can get rid of those nuclear face lights.
Now is the time to mute gestures too.

This is not to be confused with a separate issue which was dilluted to a request for a mute gestures button or disable gestures on parcel feature
This is for a flat out option on the menu to mute all gestures period.

Voted, but for sounds only. I use gestures as shortcuts for text messages or emoticons that use advanced ASCII symbols. However, the sounds are largely pointless and unfortunately, the most annoying ones are the ones used most. Especially the ones that go on for a whole minute or even longer.

There should be a separate volume control for gestures, actually...

The option to disable gestures would be very useful, and so would a Disable Attached Sounds feature. Not all sounds come from gestures. Many come from HUDs. These two buttons should, then, be added to the viewer for a client side attached sounds mute:
"Disable Attached Sounds"
"Disable Gestures"

Muting gestures automatically, at least the text part, is not possible. Internally it's nothing but normal text the client sends to the sim, just like normal chat. There is literally no difference, except what causes the client to send said text.

What could be muted tho is the sound of gestures, as the sound is not triggered by an attachment, but the avatar object itself, setting it apart as a gesture-triggered event. The only exception to that would be sounds manually played from the ivnentory, which would be muted through that was well, but I think it's reasonable.

So there needs to be not only a change to the client but also to the server for using a different message type
to send gesture triggered chat.
