 Description  « Hide
Currently texture-animations and omegas (spinning prims) continue going even if an object is some distance away, same with flexible-prims which iirc are based purely on the number visible in a scene. This isn't really very good as it means that objects in the distance which can barely be seen are sapping performance from objects which we CAN see.

As such it would be nice to see an animation LOD, this would stop animating textures, omegas and maybe even avatar animations if an item is far enough away. As there's no reason to show them really as you can't see it, or see it enough to really appreciate it anyway. This can of course be done more aggressively so only nearby items are shown to animate.

I know that flexis, at least, do a form of "LOD". The further you are away from a flexi, the less vertices it uses in the Z axis, so the less flexi calculations it has to do.
