EDIT: this issue isn't about the flood any more, it's now about missing "<user> left this session"

The flood of leaving notices in Group Chat is back. This has been filed already in multiple VWR type bugs. Though as this is a SVC issue, I'm recreating this as a bug inside the services section and will link all other bugs to this.

This is a request to revert to the semantics of displaying that people left the group, to pre 1.13 or when this flood started. The semantics was as follows:
When someone is leaving group chat, if that person spoke during the session, display "<person> left this session", else silently drop that person from the session.

This will be informational and not flooding.

The flood is definitely to be considered as a bug. The missing of the leaving notices is a missing feature.

Marking this as duplicate of the both other misfiled issues. This is definately a server side bug

Ahem. Two huge meta-issues from the resurfacing of this bug: 1. This is old. If this is from some ancient branch of the source, what merge process would let this get back in to the release branch? and 2. This was a big deal for a long time. How did this not get into the regression test suite?

Thanks for reporting this, resolving as dupe of the bustling VWR-2995.

Sorry, I don't see any "<person> left this session." messages in Second Life. That was the intention of this bug report. Reopening to get this either closed as won't fix if that feature is not going to be implemented at all or closing after it's fixed to be displayed, but not as a flood, but as in this bug description.
Changing the priority to something lower

chagning topic and severity of this. Also chaging from bug to new feature

Your summary was a bit confusing, so I modified it. Has my vote (so long as the "user has left chat session" doesn't show up in chat or chat history, but only in the group window. That's a bit too much spam for me).
