I want to make a tour bus that people can sit on,
which will not only fly us around, but also teleport
us to faraway destinations.

So this is the generic "teleport" feature request,
except it's an object that is being teleported,
and the people come along with it (and stay "seated").

For it not to be a griefer tool (randomly popping objects
in and out all over the grid), it only works when there
are avatars linked (sitting) on the object.

Probably needs a new permission, which the script had
better ask for when being seated, that allows the avatar
to be teleported wherever this device goes (any number
of times) until standing up off it. There needs to be a
frequency delay, because intra-sim teleports can be
fast, and the avi needs an opportunity to stand up and
get off the ride.

Although everyone is coming from the same sim to
the same sim, things can go wrong. For example,
the destination might be full. If an avi fails to
teleport with the object, they are just left standing.

If you are sitting when you are teleported you are often frozen in that position until you tp elsewhere, which sort of defeats the object of this otherwise interesting Magical Mystery Tour.

Becoming frozen would be a bug; hopefully you have reported that elsewhere.
It doesn't affect this feature suggestion, because I suggest it be implemented without extra bugs.

This would be a great feature also as a "jump drive" for the countless starships and Tardises already in SL

I did write an intersim "jump drive" script for the New Avalon Shipyards starships, but of course it's a bit of a hack and only works between contiguous sims. This would be the right way.
