A way to set the permissions on many items (copy/mod/trans) at once whould be a major timesaver.

One way whould be to have a single prefernces screen for all seleted items rather than them open inseperate tabs where the useual cheackboxes are there but they affect all the items.

That refers to scripts in an object.

I am refering to all items in the inventory or in an object

While clearly related they are not identical as resolving that one whould not be adiquate to resolve this one

Good god, after setting 84 texture permissions in a row, I was ready to kill. Definitely something in the Tools menu needs to do this.

Torrey's tip of the week has a few workarounds:

However mass setting texture, clothing etc items still takes a lot of clicks so can't be considered an effective one!

MISC-626 does specify scripts. This one, SVC-593, sounds like it is for multiple objects. MISC-758 proposes a number of related improvements. Ideally, the ability to change all permissions on a group of objects, or a complex object which contains things which contain things which contain things is what is needed.

I think we need a two-step solution, at least.

First, the abillity to set the permission of all selected items at once, nonrecursively. This is only a GUI change and should be relatively simple – the hardest part being making it clear visually, while still providing the ability to go through the set one-at-a-time as we currently can. For example, add a band to the bottom or top of the current window, outside the tabbed content, that says "Set all...", with checkboxes.

Second, the ability to set permissions recursively. This would be very tricky to get right, so it should be a separate item. It would need to be clear exactly what kinds of recursion are supported:

1) selected objects' or prims' inventories
2) if selection includes objects, inventory of each prim in each object
3) inventory of contents of objects in inventory (!!)

The possibilities would most likely be different depending on whether the selection is in inventory or inworld. Most likely, recursion would be supported only for in-world objects.

Item 3 would be the trickiest, and perhaps should be postponed to a 3rd phase.

Doesn't VWR-5082 do what you are requesting?
