This meta-issue exists to link to "Big Ideas" that are hiding away in JIRA, like the Godzilla under Manhattan, ready to emerge and shake up the way things are done.
What is a Big Idea?
There is no single list of what makes something a Big Idea, but it is usually some combination of the following :
1) Not merely an extension of what we have, but a big new idea, like nothing which has come before!
2) Going to be a lot of work to implement.
3) Powerful. So powerful, in fact, it has the potential to affect much of Second Life. It might open up whole new possibilities, redefine how existing things are done, automate or simply a previously complex and often-done task, or simply be so incredibly awesome that it could draw RL media attention to Second Life just because SL has it.
4) Probably not going to see the light of day in the next year, if ever. Yup, that's right folks, this is the place to put all the dreams you have for things which you recognize may not be fully practical.
5) Controversial. Goes without saying really, given the above features!
This meta-issue was created after I (Angel Fluffy) noticed that :
1) Most of JIRA is focussed on small "doable" things. This is all very good and helpful in getting stuff done, but I figure that we also need a place to dream on a grand scale.
2) Most of JIRA is dedicated to expanding existing features or fixing existing bugs in ways that have been requested for a long time. Why not do something new, too?
Feel free to relate this issue to whatever other issues you want, so long as they generally fit the criteria above. Make it grand, make it inspiring. Make people think "I want one of those!"
