I have had exactly the same thing happen to me this last 2 days, I have lost a Animated Kitchen worth 3000$L and also a Texturiek Machine with over 8000$L worth of textures loaded on it. Not to mention the fact that I snet 3080$L to another player on sl and it shows as having left my account, but he has never received it.
Raised to critical, seems to be introduced to the update and rolling restart for the first look voice client. Exactly the same happened to me (lost 3000L$). Rez a no copy object in one sim, take it back, attach it, everything is fine. TP to another sim, object can't be rezzed. after relog it is gone. Looks like the faults experienced some time ago and seems to be a database incoherence intoduced again through the update. Damn
I had a $900L Hanabi fireworks launcher vanish. It never rezzed I just got the error. The item still showed up in my inventory but when I re logged it was gone. My girl also lost a $100L tip jar I gave her as a gift for her new shop. Both of these instances happened on 7/28/7 in Kaunis.
I had an almost identical issue. I had a no-copy Amethyst collar filled with many animations and attempted to rez the collar on the ground to add in a few new animations. I detached the collar and attempted to drag collar onto the ground. The first attempt failed with a message that read
"Failed to place object at specified location. Please try again." The next attempt failed again with the following message: "Attempt to rez an object failed" The collar still showed in my inventory but when I tried to rez it one more time, I got this same failure message. "Cannot complete attachment. An attachment is pending for that spot." I cleared my inventory cache and logged out then back in only to find the collar now gone from my inventory and NOT in the Lost and Found folder. The parcel owner was asked if the item was on the parcel and she responded that no items with my name were shown on the parcel. This is sounding like it may be similar to SVC-114. Voting for this nonetheless. That exact same thing is happening to me. I try to place my dubaii city scape and it just vanishes from my inventory.
I have tried to rez several low prim pictures and on the tenth or so try it actually appears. but I will try another dozen times and it will always tell me failed to rez object yes this Exact same this has been bappening to me as well. Pay for something then fails to rez, and try a relog and it Gone..........
Well it happened again last night after responding here, I lost a cuddle rug worth 5k and a set of towels for my bathroom 125. I wonder how many more thing we have to lose before this is fixed. I am getting mightily annoyed with it at the moment, and am wanting to know if we will all be reimbursed for the items we have lost.
hello, i have 2 crash (eject from sl) and i lost over 400 US dollar items, allmost all in my inventories is gone, execpt the folder name. and when i put out (drop out) a item on me they is gone too, seems the linden database not mate a update,
Now i lost animation overdire and Xcite item. mine 90% inventory is clear from item. i have write to support, hope he can make anyhting cause is Linden to make backup and restore, i cant accept lost 400 dollar us for a games, i am not bill gates. I've gotten to the stage now where I hardly dare log onto Second Life, because discovering new items missing from inventory everytime with no apparent cause is breaking my heart. I just invested something like $400 into my land and new building business...and yet before I can even launch the business, I'm wondering if I should resell the land before I lose any more items and real money. I can't finish my building projects because the necessary objects fail to rez and are then lost from inventory...and I just can't afford the losses. I feel like the Lindens are saying 'great, we got our money, it's nothing to do with us anymore'.
Very sad and disappointed. Hi all. I am having the exact same issue, however, I have only lost roughly L$66 worth of rugs at this point. I have noticed that this issue is normally only happening when inside a building. I can rez some items outside on my property but get continued failings when I try to do so inside either my house or workshop. I went to another sim where I have build abilities but was unable to rez items there either.
This issue has been intermittent with me for the last 3-4 days (at least) although, for the last two, there has been a near total inability to rez objects unless I am outside & the last two days have also seen the loss in inventory. I don't know if the following has happened in conjunction with the rezzing & inventory issues with anyone else, however, other issues that have begun to appear over the last 48 hours are general whackiness to my interface. Earlier today my menu bars would start displaying varied odd colors (a mix or orange, green & yellow) if I interacted with any scripted object. These would persist if I tried to edit anything, causing my edit arrows to refuse to appear in the standard red, green & blue. These problems seem to have cleared up of their own accord after I was crashed out of the system a few times however, now, anything that has a greyscale shade in it - greys & brown-greys more than full black - has a washed out color which is basically defaulting to white. I'm almost afraid to try logging out in an effort to correct this since, when I'd noticed this occuring with my prim finder gadget, I'd taken it back to inventory & tried setting it out again (reflex, of course). Yep, it failed to rez & now I'm worried that it will disappear from my inventory as well. Please don't take what I'm about to say as being rude because I know all of you work very hard behind the scenes. BUT...it seems to me that, rather than pouring resources into new whiz-bang things for the SL experience in general, we first need to know that our inventories - which we spend RL cash on in many cases - are protected & that the main platform we use is stable. Quite honestly, I could care if we have a rolling restart every other day if it means a more stable platform. Still, I hope it would be obvious that folks aren't going to continue playing - no matter what cool new scenic gizmo is implemented - if they can't do so without being able to actually DO the things they wish to do (such as rezzing objects to decorate) or be certain that the inventories that they pay good US & Linden for are reasonably secure. We need more work on a secure platform & a method whereby we can store/backup our inventories without fear of loss. Thanks for listening... Me again...another item lost. Sure enough, as I'd worried, my Prim Finder was not in my inventory when I logged back into the game. I certainly hope someone will look into this soon...
I've had a handful of customers lose items today... after the message from LL went out on Saturday that all was fixed. Inventory issues are one of the top problems in SL that needs to be addressed once & for all. First Look Voice (for which the rolling restart that supposedly preceded all of this was done) is nice and all, but I have to agree with Lyselle on this. Having been a member of other pay-for 3D games/simulations, I've never, ever had invientory go missing with other online communities. Please Lindens, find a permanent solution to these inventory database problems, or at least start a dialog to get the communities input on what we are willing to give up (limit # of inventory items?) in order to improve system stability.
I've lost 3 no copy items as I wanted to rezz them about 3 hours ago. Same happened on saturday with a 1500 L$ box of clothing. Just got an error message when rezzing and after relog it was gone in my inventory. I'm using Windows 2000.
Lost an L$800 boxed outfit on Saturday. Had purchased and received it from SLX, and got the error message when I went to rez it. After several attempts to rez, the item disappeared from my inventory never to be seen again. I can't afford to be repurchasing this item - so I want to know what is going be done about reclaimation/reparation???
So far, I've lost a pair of shoes and some furniture.

At the Relay For Life, I attempted to rez a $1500 dollar purchase, and "attempt to rez object failed" was the error I received. I was able to rez other objects on the sim. I tp'd home, tried to rez the purchase there, no dice, but was able to rez other things at home as well. After a relog, the item was gone from my inventory.
Lost a sweatshirt and 2 poseballs after failed attempts to rez and relogging.
Lost two dresses after trying to rez them, a pair of pants. A couple of other things as well. Got a rez error and everything vanished after relogging.
I have not had a loss as of yet but i do have a suggestion
inventory to be stored on users pc's i have had expierence with other online open g/l games with the inventory stored on my pc fetching it is much faster and more stabel perhaps check into inventory stored on user end with a back up on your end lucian I've today lost a prim baby which will cost L$1,750 to replace, i've lost a L$2,000 horse before aswell as small items such as a bikini. I thought at first i'd accidentally deleted the horse, now I know it's this bug. It needs to be fixed or for the lindens to return the items or pay the cost of a replacement if they can't be replaced by the creator for free. This is REAL money & not our fault, please fix it1
I have lost a machine that cost me L$5500... I was rezzing it (trying to) and the attempt failed!! after relogging the machin wasn't there =(
Sorry Torley, at this point, I am afraid to even try with no reports of things being fixed, just being worked on. I mean can you really blame me? This is the second time in the last four to five months that things have just vanished from inventory. I am just afraid of losing things again. I lost some poses that the maker has stated that they will not replace because it is not their fault and that we should all complain to Linden Labs about this issue. Although I think I will now avoid purchasing things from them, they do make a valid point, even if at MY expense. And isn't that just a shame, that I am at that point? Afraid of something that I adore. I wonder if I am alone on this one.
Today, i have lost a childs bed, a prim baby, and god only knows what else, i agree with previous posters, this is Rl money, and after replacing items from an eariler time with this same issue im starting to get alittle upset, I agree that maybe Linden should refund us the items that the creator will not replace for free.This is not our fault, And being that its not the first time its happened I think it would only be fair to replace the missing items, the prim baby cost 1,750 and the childs bed was 600L.... My previous experience before I lost two 3,000l beds and a prim baby.

Nice to know that someone has looked in on this issue (thanks Torley!) Torley, I do have a question when you have a moment or two. As this is the first time I have experienced inventory loss, what is the probability that our items will be able to be recovered? I know it may sound like a silly question in some ways, however, I don't want to go out & replace my prim finder, only to have two in the future. Also, I have to admit to liking Lucian's suggestion of being able to back up inventory on our own PCs. I could certainly understand not being able to actually access the items on our PCs but it would still be comforting to know that I had a backup in case something happened. Briony, I understand how you feel. I was in the middle of finally decorating my new home with all those things I'd been collecting for months. Though it is driving me nuts, I am refraining from touching any of it for fear of losing something that I went to great lengths to obtain. Please keep us informed of progress, even if it isn't a full fix yet...at least knowing that it is being worked on helps me keep the faith Lyselle This happened 2007-07-29:
1. I tried to rez my "HUDDLES EZ Animator Deluxe v1.1.2" (containing tons of animations that have cost me a fortune) on my own parcel "Salmo 151, 105". This happened about half an hour ago (i.e. round 09:00 PDT). That failed due to lack of free prims 2. I tried to attach it That failed too, with a blue error message in the lower right corner Then my client crashed. After having re-logged, the object was neither in my inventory, nor rezzed where I tried to rez it, nor attached. I have tried to re-log, emptying my cache. I have carefully searched my inventory, including the "Lost and Found" folder. I did also teleport to Amsterdam, and back again. The HUDDLES in itself I don't miss (since it's copyable) but the animations I'd put in it represent an immense value in time and money. I also lost a Huddles EZ animator - probably L10K worth of animations and poses. Then went out and bought DNA - 1100L and lost that. Then I purchased an object scanner 400L to see if i could find it... no luck. Not only did I lose a lot of money, but a lot of time as well.

The color issues that I reported on prior have become a consistent annoyance now. I have not put these into another bug in & of itself since it began occuring along with everything else. I have determined the following, however, if it might be of some help: The yellow/green/orange wierdness of color in both my menu & button bars as well as my pie menu seem to be occuring consistently whenever an IM comes through or when a scripted object "speaks". The issue somewhat resolves itself a few moments after the IM or script "talk" completes, although the colors will still persist with disrupting the blue/red/green of the edit function colors for some time longer. As of 7:49PM SL time on 7/31 I still cannot teleport without crashing nearly every time (I've only managed one TP without a crash), I can't rez anything unless standing outside of a building (& no copy items disappear if attempted), I'm having the color issues described above & I've lost over L$350 worth of items from inventory (so little only because I caught on to not trying to rez no copy items quickly). Additionally, what I first thought to be a simple user issue with my alt zoom (alt + holding left mouse button) function has proven to be more than a slip of the finger or two. Nearly every time I try to zoom in on or rotate around something by holding alt & the left mouse button (alt zoom), it just refuses to work. All it does is shift back & forth slightly behind my charactar's orientation. When it does decide to work on the odd occassion, it works VERY quickly & zooms well into the horizon & then won't reorient. As I have made no changes to my mouse sensitivity, this certainly should not be happening. Along with this, focusing back on my avatar sometimes results in my camera angle being all askew & not readusting to normal without relogging. I have tried clearing my cache more than once, have emptied my trash with the thought that something in there might be affecting things...in effect, I have tried everything I can think of to possibly correct this issue on my own, including reloading the program itself. The result of all of these issues, put together, mean that I am nearly dead in the water as far as doing anything in the game is concerned. I am trying to perservere & do what I can while I wait for this to be fixed however it is, increasingly, becoming more of an annoyance than it is worth. These issues began nearly a week ago & I am quickly running out of patience & seriously beginning to wonder what kind of compensation Linden Labs intends to offer for failures that they, not I, have caused. I still hold to the belief that, as mentioned previously, we need more diligent attention paid to improving this gaming platform than we need given to new whiz-bang additions. This, most especially, when the efforts to begin implementing these new additions seems to be what is causing the platform to become unstable. I just wonder how long we are going to have to wait for results... Thank you for listening &, please, do something about this sooner rather than later! I mean, I like my little homestead & all but I'd really like to be able to go somewhere else when the mood strikes or actually finish decorating it... I can not speak English well, but I will try it....
I purchased a Harp. at: Musical Alchemy - Pianos, Harps,, Persenickety Isle (194, 37, 27) TN# : 442160491 In my inventory, I moved the Harp object to next folder. And I rezed it following place. I played the harp, and took it in my inventory. But I could not rez it.
Same problem happens to me since yesterday.
Lost 2 fireplace, 2 aok tress and many flowers. This problem is serious. You won't know it exist until you relog. By then you would have rezzed and lost many no copy objects. I wonder why linden never give warning in their official blog. It could prevent people from making the same mistake before the issue is resolved. another little note...i was boxing stuff up to just store...i rezzed the box to extract a couple things out and successfully extracted the items but when i went to take the box, POOF nothin in it!!
i know what your thinking "operator error"...that's what i thought but ALL the items in this particular box were copiable...i also lost an item last night that "failed to rez"..but i was lucky enough to have a kind soul replace for me. Yep.. also losing (no copy) items after trying to rez them here...
Please fix it and put up a warning on the blog!!!! Same problem for me too. I think this is serious enough to put the issue on the blog. I lost a L$500 item and asked the seller to give me another copy and he has yet to reply.
So far, I've lost a $600 Amethyst Collar and a $200 Real Restraints Ballgag. Fortunately both were replaced by the kind creators, but now I'm afraid to try and unbox the new gag.. fortunately the collar isn't boxed, so was able to use that again.
This has been going on far too long, it needs to be a top priority. I see no reason that LL should get away with taking our real world money for virtual items, then not even be able to ensure that we will keep what we paid for. I had this happen to me last night. I tried to rez a no copy item and got a "object failed to rez" error. When I came back this morning the item was still in my inventory however it wouldn't let even try to drag it in-world (a black blocked circle symbol with a line though it). When I cleared my cache it was gone. This needs to be fixed ASAP and warnings put out on the blog.
I can only add that the problem occured to me first last weekend and still persists - lost some poseballs and furniture, value about 500L. Regarding the other comments it looks like quite a sum piles up...
After the "failed to rez" error message the objects could still be seen in inventory and were gone after relogin. Clearing cache did't resolve it and Lost&Found is unsuspicios. From a DB point of view: the transactional flow was broken , no proper rollback performed after failed data transfer during rez. The transactional wrapping around inventory-to-sim data (object) exchange needs strongly be reviewed! Otherwise major losses will surely occur, in general it's a definite threat to the in-world stablity - and the long term consequences should be clear. No discussion: This current instability has to be reported in the blog - upto no now residents are only informed and warned by mutual communication. Just now experienced failure to rez (Glastonbury 7.45ish AM).
Item no longer in inventory. Terrified to pull anything out of inventory now. Ive Expeianced same thing get a blue notice about attempt to rez item it poof from my inventory like it did rez but nowhere to be found.Lost a chause lounge,two devotion sets,a animated squirl,and a gazebo. A few of the items returned back to my inventory well at least appeared that way till i relogged then items aint in my inventory anymore .... sadding as well that no inworld warning etc has been sent out about the issue guess they want more people to lose stuff as it doesnt appear to be just a isolated case but who and what do we know we all are jus residents not the all mighty lindens if they lost the items they would been on it a long time ago........
Been over a week now thought I let SL work out its bug but week later I m still losing items. If i add up all my items it is costing me a pretty penny.. When will this be resolved
Dee. I am seriously angered by Linden Labs failure to make public the number of occurance of this bug, it is clear to me that this is an enourmous issue, it threatens all commerce in world. Who is willing to buy a non-copy item knowing that its a crap shoot wether it will ever rez! My Sim has it's Grand Opening tomorrow, I just tried to rez 2 booth of 8 in my nightclub, got the unable to rez/failure to rez messages, and then POOF gone upon relog.
I am afraid to attempt set up on my sim, and time really is of the essence, with no predictability of how often this might happen... how can I move ahead as a businesswoman in SL? 3 of my staff have also experienced this problem. Is there no other option but reporting here! yes Dominique everyone is losing there items and they use this way of reporting etc to sweep everything under the rug so no big rl buisness's see how truelly sucky sl is becoming.Heaven forbid them actually have to suck it up and release in world or the normal blog that theres a big problem with rezzing items.Or telling of the issues in world or even reassure us even though the items may not appear to be in our inventorys etc that we still have them or jus tell us once again they totally fumbling fallin and dropping the ball left and right on any issues as that may effect the popularity of sl and bringing big name companys into sl jus seems with no replys etc on the issues outside of Torley Linden asking if they are still happening 4 days ago so jus proves to me lindens dont seem to care or even consider that people are rezzing no copy items such as texture organizers that can an may contain thousands of original textures etc or could be a present that is sentamential in some way etc ...... regardless of if its a freebie or orignal content people are losing lots and lots of items and no feed back what so ever for four days on any part of the matter outside torleys sorry for our loss which doesnt help the matter one bit
Same thing happening to me at Alicia Island (38,92,23). It is my own land, building, scripting etc. is allowed for me. I tried to rez a L$-1000 object, "object failed to rez", but was still in my inventory. After logging out and relog (hours later) the object was gone from my inventory, but also not rezzed on the land.
I did all the things Linden advises to (inventory search, making invisible objects visible, clear cache etc.), but its still gone.
Addition: a little bit disappointing is that this critical error that obviously costs a lot of people real money is still unassigned...
Same exact problem here. Bought $700L outfit, tried to try it on, woudn't rez, I thought thanks to being in an overcrowded sim at the time, so i TPed to an empty one, relogged and it everything I'd tried to wear was gone. All no copy of course. What I didn't try on remained in inventory, but of course, that's not what I paid for.
Real money here, Linden Labs. Fix it. Yes, this is a stupid issue. I lost a little over 3.5k. Luckily one seller was kind enough to send me a new item. Still waiting on the approx. 3k though...
Anybody going to take this issue up? I'm sure you guys are working your butts off with the update today, but your update is eating people's money. Pretty please, look into it.
This happened to me as well about 2 hours ago. Please fix it OR AT LEAST WARN PEOPLE - it is terribly unfair to let people lose real money like this
Me again with an update of sorts...
I have fixed the majority of the video issue I've been experiencing on my own...thought I had updated my video driver but the update had failed without my knowledge. My problems with wild colors has now disappeared (thanks goodness - it was highly annoying) but the issues with greyscales is still present. As stated before, I have not opened this up in another bug report because I firmly believe it all to be linked as it all started at the same general time. Everyone else is right...this issue of inventory needs to be reported on the blogs so people can be warned. I can report, first-hand, that the number of people who have logged in here to add their comments, by no means, mirrors the number of people who are being affected in-world. I've learned this just through general conversations over the course of this week - & not, incidentally, where I have been the first to comment on problems. I did note that our collective problems here did not hinder voice from making it's rollout...interesting that resources were applied for the final touches & rollout on voice when so many people are still suffering with the main platform. Thanks much for that, BTW...yes, it truly ticks me off. I have been able to TP a few times now without crashing but it is still a hit & miss issue. Still can't rez anything indoors & won't even attempt a no copy item to try. Even rezzing outdoors is not working consistently, sometimes taking a few tries. The zooming funtion continues to not work properly & is, quite possibly, the most annoying issue at present since it keeps me from doing even the few things I can do with the current platform limitations. Question is...just how many votes does an issue need to get & how many people need to be angry before something is done? This is beyond ridiculous at this point. Please, fix the platform issues & do it soon...this is a much more widespread issue than it looks to be... I have experienced the same issues.. I have purhcased an item twice and when Rezing it receved the same message and then the items were lost

I've been getting several IMs every day for the past several days (Since July 27th) about this issue. I'm a vendor so people have been IMing me with the exact same problem as follows:
They purchase the item and all is well, it's in their objects folder just asit should be. This does not go for all sales (That I'm aware of) and I don't have any links for why certain sales are experiencing this bug. Many of the IMs I'm getting are from panicing people, feeling as if they've lost a lot of money, and have no way to recover it. Please make at least an announcement, letting people know this is happening! I've experienced this bug myself most recently today around the time the new voice chat client was made available. While I'm not out any money this time as the object lost was a peice of furniture from a lucky chair, this does indicate this issue is still infact happening and does need serious looking into especially considering the above commentors who are out money as there's no real way to 'prove' to vendors this error occured and to get re-imbursed.
Is there any fresh insights to be had on what causes this and how to keep alert for when to be wary of losing inventory? Anyways the basic low down of my own issue was: Sim: Juree (Castle of Flesh/Crystal Waterfalls rental area) Please Lindens, this has been happening since June, there's multiple reports of this error which means there's tons of people with this issue.... Might be an idea to actually investigate a long standing issue before you add any more new features... I was just somewhere and someone lost an avatar they bought. I lost a set of silks.
Don't change it to inventory on the computer. Or let it be an option. I use several pcs to log into SL and that would just ruin it for me. Understandably issues come up, but I'd also like to say this. Between the banning of casinos, the griefers lately probably because of that and now the missing items, something has to be done fast. A SL bank isn't always able to give out lindons, buyers can't see their products they are purchasing for fear they will lose them, and sellers are getting harangued by people who are upset because they didn't know about this issue and tried to rez things. Or if they choose to keep their land and sell, I personally have not rented extra spaces because of all this, so if renters dont take spots then premium accounts can't afford to keep their land. This is a horrible circle. Who is going to keep paying to have unhappy customers? Who is going to take a chance of buying anything when it probably will be lost anyway. I haven't seen the numbers on how this is affecting the SL economy, but I've seen enough articles to know, there is huge trouble brewing.
Whilst most Vendors have been understanding with this issue, their generosity and patience is going to come to an end at some point.
Just assign someone and fix this bug. Being worried about rezzing non-copy items is a PITA. I got warnings not to rez uncopiable items, so I dont, but.... for how long will this go on?!?
As I see this issue is open for almost a week now, still unassigned - and marked as Critical, which it is. And still no official statement that there are issues with the asset management. Taking into account the mentioned sums, and thinking of all other residents who simply bear their losses with a shrug or don't know/care about the JIRA I imagine that VAST amounts have simply been burned. And still not a single word from LL stating at least "Yes, there is a problem - yes we are aware - yes, we'll be working on it". At the same time the proud announcement that the voice feature is now available officially....maybe the priority estimation has come out of balance.... Please - this occured in former times as well, so the approach to the problem should be clear. I'm not sure if the following weekend will be enjoyed by many residents if this issue keeps to persist...The last weekend was already troublesome. Ok, this problem seems to be running rampant.
I lost the same set of pose balls twice (the creator had kindly given me another set). He has now given me yet another set, but I am afraid to use it and risk another loss. I also lost an av I had just bought and was attempting to get out of its box. Again the creator came to my rescue and gave me another one. These creators and vendors have been more than fair about this, but are now having to spend too much time fielding IMs from worried or irate customers. And time is literally money to them, since I'm sure this keeps them from creating new items for sale. Fix this! (The fluffier clouds can wait) Like many others I have lost inventory items after failure to rez and then logging out.
I initially thought that it was because I was in a building so tried oustide the building and then on another sim. The failure to rez message came up every time. Fortunately the vendors on most of the items have been very understanding and have replaced the items (some of which have rezzed correctly). It's got to the stage where I'm seriously thinking of taking my vendors off-line, just to stop any possible problems with the items that I sell. This is such a major problem that someone needs to have a look at it and fix it before people start to give up on SL all together - why should people have to worry about whether their items will rez and if they will lose them if there is a problem. I like others have lost several Items including a house so far total losses to me have been around 5000L but I have noticed that it seemed to start after the power outage in SF
I cant believe this isnt being fixed - this problem has been occurring since late June!
I had this error occurr this morning (8/3/07 around 5 am SLT) in the Rasley region. It also happened last week (7/27/07). Same exact thing - I dropped a no-copy item onto my land and received an "Attempt to rez object failed" message. The item returns to my inventory briefly but then disappears. This is a HUGE problem. I am deathly afraid of dropping no-copy items for fear of loosing them. This will impact the SL economy as I do not feel safe investing money in no-copy items until this is resolved. PLEASE FIX!!!!!! Same problem just occurred this morning. I dropped a no-copy item (kiss pose ball) on the ground and received an "Attempt to rez object failed" message - after which the item was pretty much gone from existence.
This should be ranked as the most critical issue facing SL now. This bug will have a deep impact on people's purchasing habit.s People will start avoiding no-copy items that they have to place on the ground like the plague. This issue needs resolution NOW. how pathetic are you people at LL????
Look at your blog. DO YOU NOT SEE HOW RAMPANT LOST INVENTORY IS NOW? Shut down the f'ing grid and take care of this issue NOW! This occurred to me with an AO containing over 3000L worth of animations. This is an extremely critical issue - how can it be unassigned!!!
More here too... are they working on this at all? I am up to around 10k in game money worth of items. This is just stupid, nothing works to recover these items and it looks like we are getting no help. Oh but wait we got voice UGH if I wanted to hear someone I would just use a chat program. Why can't they just make what we have work

I was unable to reproduce this. I went to land, tested that I'm not able to create/rez objects on it, and then tried to rez a no-copy object. The object disappeared from my inventory, and then reappeared almost immediately when I got the error saying that I wasn't allowed to rez objects.
Please stop the grid or make something fast, there also a lot of problem to upoload things... loading clothing and shapes... every time i must relog 3-4 time clearing cache to make apparence working.
I need to upload textures... take money but give a server error. I think the new version have solved something but introduce a lot of other problems. ty

Being a resident at a third world country "the system" doesn't even "allow", through paypal, bank or credit card, to have a 'payment info on file', you can imagine that people around the world are not exactly collecting lindens - or USD - in trees either. In a country where we uy one dollar for 2 or 3 of our coin, you can imagine our loss is doubled. Yes, Mr. Torley Linden, I would sincerely appreciate a refund. The name is Adriaen Lane. In case you need a referral, I am one of your volunteer helpers who takes newbies by hand and invites friends to play here. One of the few that spends time with random foreigners speaking with them in their language while I have heard others trying to ban or despise the newbies who can't purchase a box yet (nobody was born with instruction manuals.) So, while I enjoy being a SL helper and RL free advertisement, this is a bit unfair. Refund, please. Thanks. I lost two items to this bug at around 2AM PDT 8/3/07. One was a vehicle I attempted to rez at Blue Linden's Office (on the giant blue office chair). The second item, however, was a rug on a parcel that I owned, which I have deeded to a group I created, and had currently activated. This suggests that the bug may also be happening on group-owned land.
Ps.. someone asked me how did I manage to loose 10 =9+1 (I already hd one) of the same item. Smple. I am very organized with my inventory. I had heard of people loosing 10K worth items and I had kept them on a prim to make them 'safe' (I store many thngs on a prim; to see what am talking about, read the chapter about inventories on SL login screen).
So I had stored my worshipped roses there right after purchase, testing a couple times afterwards just to make sure. I am afraid to log OFF and find out my 10K worth in hairs and 12K worth clothing are all gone!!! Refund, refund, refund...
I have rez permission in both locations and the 'rez/won't rez' thing was intermittant throughout the night and this morning. I'm now afraid to log in - I have no idea what may be gone now. :< merchants should put up a big warning sign in their stores. this is potentially millions of US dollars in losses racking up. in actuality, the grid should simply be closed until this is fixed.
I have to disagree - the problem is not limited to land you cannot rez on, though i DO believe it may be region specific.
I recently tested this with an alt - created a box prim, set it to no copy no mod, transfer and gave it to my alt. I then tried to rez the test prim at the same location where I had lost items the night before. The item failed to rez repeatedly and while it did initially return to my inventory, it was gone upon relog. In my case, my personal lost items were: and the test box lost by my alt was: I've documented all of this (and a bit more (location details, etc)) in my own support ticket (4051-4226851). Apparently this issues not only appears on land you dont own, its also happening on land you do own yourself (no group-deeded).
My inventory is constantly missing items over the time for no reasons (building objects, textures, clothes) and over the last week i lost a considerable amount of items (meaning LL-money due to buying) and the hurting factor of course is the non-copy items. made bug-fix report (and as my visitor counter told me a Linden ava assigned to bug-fixes projects came and visited my reported land). So things are moving but not yet solved This hurts the SL economy very hard as SL consumer will consider if they should buy products at all. This is a very essential SL factor to prove "to be - or not to be" successful in the long term. Glad to hear that Linden takes this up and hopefully for all of us to be resolved soon or that SL user get a chance to make a backup of its inventory on a regular base (as suggested in a web-meeting with Jesse Linden). To all have a great weekend I was on my own land when I tried to rez my animation overrider to add some animations to it. I got the dreaded "failed to rez" error every time I tried. I relogged and it was gone. This was an expensive AO and I did not enjoy losing it.
@Aki: This may not be the only inventory loss issue or repro circumstance, but it's what we've confirmed. By all means if you have another solid repro, we'll add that info to our blog post because it's best to be aware. Thanks for your help, I'll forward your ticket to check out.
@Delphina: More details please? Was this land you had enough prims to rez on? Or was it a nearly-full parcel?
Specific details help us help you better, we need to know. I am dealing with this problems for several days now (actually since the last rolling restart on last friday).
Since that day customers complain that they have lost newly bought items (rezzed on their own land). I am constantly updating those cases via support portal and also ask customers to file inventory loss reports. All they get to hear is "sorry, we feel for you" - if they hear back from support at all. We have put up big signs with warnings meanwhile and closed our main shop yesterday when it became worse for any reason. People blame us merchants cause they can't get hold of the "Linden gods". You don't want to hear what I had to listen to meanwhile. To add to this bug report something usefull: it does not only happen on parcels you do not own - it also happens on parcels you own (not deeded). If you need more info I can give you a long list of customers who have lost stuff and who own the land they rezzed the stuff on. Cobra (very frustrated meanwhile after 5 days of dealing with angry customers) FWIW Torley, I was well under my prim allotment at both locations [Serenity Woods & Karibu] so that wasn't it.
And it's odd, but I've been having the biggest problems at furry sites/regions. Don't know why that should make that much of a difference unless a large number of them run off the same server. I've updated what I wrote at the top to be more general – as this applies to "failure to rez" cases in general.
I tried rezzing a no-copy object on a full parcel I owned, it failed, and I got the failure to rez object message and lost it. Lex, I don't see an earlier comment from you, but will check with the older viewer. Okay, I guess I have to once again revise what I've said. Here's how I lost a test no-copy item:
1. Find land that doesn't allow rezzing objects by you.

Contessa Rug: failed rez @ Honister 160, 75, 352 on 8/3/07 2AM PDT Here's what LL could do to fix this problem once and for all: The No Copy property of an item should be changed to allow the owner to make multiple personal backup copies of the original item. These backup copies should be created with both No Copy and No Transfer properties set, insuring that they can only be used by the owner of the original item. fwiw, when this happened last time I was having these problems on group owned land.. and found them later embedded in the floor where i'd rezzed them. not all of them, but probably around 40%. they didn't show up when you use the about land and show objects and some of them i couldn't get to as i couldn't move the object they were in away from them.. all round strange.

Well, I guess I'll add my horror story :/
On Friday, July 27th, in the Asimov Park sim, at about 10 pm sl time, I attempted to rez my HUDDLES EZ Animator Deluxe v1.1.3 on the ground to edit some notecards in it, and received an error message which said "Attempt to rez an object failed." Puzzled, I tryed to rez it again and received the same error. Now Asimov Park has open build, no permissions are required. Thinking this might be a sim-specific issue, I changed location to my home in Lutra, and the same thing occured. When I re-logged the object had disappeared from my inventory! I was flabberghasted; my Huddles contained tens of thousands of lindens in poses, animations, and dances, which I spent over a year accumulating, and it just vanished! At this point, i did all the LInden Troubleshooting steps. I cleared cache several times, changed locations on re-logs, and it still did not reappear. I logged off hoping that perhaps it would show up in my inventory the next day when I logged back in, but no luck. The next day, annoyed and frustrated, i spent the afternoon trying to re-build what I had lost. I spent over 10,000L in an attempt to replace some of the poses, animations, and dances, and put them in a new copy of my Huddles. I was angry and annoyed but willing to move on. Less that 24 hours after the previous night's disaster, I needed to rez my new Huddles with all the things I had just bought in it in my Lutra home (I had forgotten to drop in a few notecards). When I did, I again got a "Attempt to rez an object failed." message. I tried to attach it back, got an "attachment pending for that point" message, and then re-logged and bang, gone! Now my second Huddles full of items has vanished in less than 24 hours!! I was in shock; literally....all that replacement money down the drain.... Oh, and I neglected to say, along the way I got the "failure to rez" issue on a stand set and a boxed ao, so there was another 1250L down the drain. All together in just REPLACEMENT costs, when all was said and done, I had spent over 100 USD to replace everything; TWICE. I really think there should be some compensation for the residents affected by this; I was a hair's width from leaving SL forever over this issue. The first one was a gift and very special to me. The second one was on loan and losing it most probably will get me killed. Pretty please... Make these items come back..... THis is more serious than it appears at first. I tried to rez a copyable item that was "no transfer".
The object not only failed to rez per the bug report, but upon relogging in the skirt was "full perm", i.e I could now transfer the object! I have notified the vendor (Bunny Creek), and will NOT be reselling the item! However this could present a major security problem if not fixed ASAP. I am trying to isolate the cause since I am not sure that this bug was the cause or if some other inventory corruption caused this! i am having serious isues not only with no copy items but my own builds with full permions and other copyable items as well and having items ive tryed to attach disapear or get transphormed this happend when i only tryed to move the item to a new folder. i have lost numerous items including 4 grim babies ive tryed posting this 3 times so now im tired and making it short.
Grim babie joey started seeing my stuff dissapear on july 31st Athen Shire (219, 102, 24) I had the misfortune of moving in the middle of this mess from an apartment to a rented house...I've lost several thousand L$ worth of painting, art work and furniture.

I also have a couple of items that are in my inventory put which I can not place ANYWHERE (I get a no drop icon). @Linden – Noticing that you have replied to some people, here is a good question for you, since you obviously either missed my huge post or just ignored it.. what's pretty usual o happen, alas, when we say that we live in a third world country. But I wasn't born here, I'm Euro, does it help any?
Anyway, the question is quite simple, and the answer we need is much as simple, a yes-no question asks for a simple yes-no answer: Since we 'obeyed' and listed our losses... Are we going to receive a refund??? thanks for your reply. After the rolling restart is done, meaning this fix is applied and the above repro no longer results in "failure to rez", this issue can be resolved.

I can't remember the exact day I lost my chimera with dances because I waited a couple of days for it to come back to my inventory, so all mixed up now....it was the 29th or 30th I think....in a building on land I don't own, with room to rez, and after I'd read that the issue had been resolved. Was the same deal...tried to rez it in my club....got the error messages so didn't try anymore. Realized the next day that it was missing.
Chimera 800L - luckily I had a copyable version the creator gave me one time before when I had problems with one breaking So if LL can locate in your database an owenimations chimera with 8 sine wave dances in it lost at Odessa Astounding around 173,50.30...send it back to me please.

I went back and bought once again one of the original 3 things the sim where i was crashed so i had to relog came back and it was gone again. 2nd August Object failed to rez several times then was not in inventory after relog. I recently sold my land and returned all of my objects (and I owned them all) to my inventory and as soon as I did ALL of the items disappeared.
I lost almost 3000L worth of inventory including complete furniture sets for my home (bedroom, dining, kitchen). Living room decorations (low prim), chairs, yoga mats, a house, artwork, and other decorations. SOme of these items had been purchased 24-48 hours before placed them in my home. In total, I lost over 100 items from my inventory. LL needs to make this right for users and residents. I feel totally let down and am upset that I might never get these items back. I don't have an infinite amount of Linden to just repeatedly buy the SAME THINGS over and over. An announcement about this issue should have been made MUCH SOONER and SL/LL should have taken things issue much more seriously than it has up to this point. And since there was a request to catalog what was lost, below is my best recollection of what is now missing. Some items I can not even put the value on since they have been in my inventory so long and the folders for them are empty.

Seems this bug is not trigering only guest's items but also owner I have exactly same problem happen to my Amethyst collar with many [no copy] animations loaded.
With rez the collar on the ground, I got "Failed to place object at specified location. Please try again.". When I try again, I got "Attempt to rez an object failed" When I give up and try to wear the collar back, I got "Cannot complete attachment. An attachment is pending for that spot." When I logout and log back in, I lost my Amethyst collar. I had been wait for a day, no lost and found item return to me. --Please help. How can this issue be resolved if we don't have our items back!!!!!
I l;ost three items. A SecGen Diamond Updater, an SZE Comfy Chair, and an Orb Of Power during the last few days. Plus who knows how much else that I haven't yet noticed. Total damages, 10,299 L$.
I posted a ticket after the first two losses, but there has been no response at all on it. Needless to say, I am frustrated and angry. The Sexgen Diamond Updater and the Sze Comfy Chair were lost in Nightfield friday the 27th of July, and sunday the 29th, respectively. The Orb of Power was lost in Columbia last night, August 2nd/3rd. I wouldn't call this issue resolved. I call it an unmitigated disaster. I know this is not the place to do it, but don't know where else to vent some of my frustration...
This post is aimed at Tory's last post and I hope someone will respond. I find it hard to accept a company to hide behind the terms of service when it is clear that a lot of people were affected and the fault is not theirs. The fact that this is not e.g. Everquest, where items are in game only and are acquired for free, but SL where we actually have to pay REAL money for these items is not something to be stepped over lightly. As far as I can see, most requests for reimbursement in this post are for the specific Items and not the actual money spent. Linden should take this as a sign that most, if not all, people here are sincere in what has happened to them and in one way or another are really affected by this. Linden is taking the easy way out! Even if it is hard to reimburse the items, from a technical perspective, it does not release Linden from the obligation to at least engage in discussion on how to resolve this. I am terribly dissapointed!!

Linden Labs: Please note the following - it may help solve the problem! All the items listed above were acquired last night (08/03/07) just after upgrading to version 1.18.1.2. I was buying things all last week during the 'problems' with no losses! The first item purchased last night 'failed' when I tried to rez it, with the same message that everyone else is seeing. I then noticed the warning about not rezzing and so did nothing with the second item other than buying it.. Both items were missing from my inventory when I logged in today - I suspect the rezzing issue is a bit of a red herring , in that it is a symptom of the problem and not the cause. I also noticed that some, but not all, of the freebie's I had picked up from the Vienna Freebi store in Wien were not added to the inventory. Others, perversely, were added and stayed there through a restart. Oddly, some of the free items that 'stayed' were boxed and needed rezzing, and some of the items that disappeared were unboxed. Linden - you need to sort this one out quickly I think that all of us users who are reporting missing objects and getting no help from the vendors who sold them to us should start up a "bad vendors list". So that people can know which are just about the sale, and offer no help when a disaster like this happens.
I bought an Orb Of Power (2999 L$) from Carson's Creations. I put the box containing it on the ground in the mature sandbox in Columbia, and promptly got this system error. which made the box removed from my inventory and never opened. And no sight of it was in the sandbox when I relogged. I then contacted the vendor to try and get a replacement. But have not gotten anything back for over 24 hours. So I contacted the store owner the vendor has space in abouyt the lack of contact. needless to say, I'm hoping that store owner kicks the vendor to the curb. Right now, I consider the Orb Of Power a total loss. I don't expect it returned. I'm also out the money I paid for it. Needless to say, my mood is none too happy. For me it's a pair of Xcite Tweezer Nipple clamps w/Chains&Bells. I lost it on August 1st. Value L$500.
Rezzing the object failed because it had more prims that I expected and the land didn't have enough free prims. (I was used to never have problems rezzing objects on that land.) I didn't retry at the same day but noticed the inventory loss when logging in the next day. Will LL find out the lost items and restore them? Just not refunding inventory lost due to SL bugs is a bad idea I think! For it's not only an item that is worth real money, it was a treasured gift from a dear friend I've never posted here before, but I also have lost items from my inventory, the most important one being:
Rendezvous Blue 1.20. It cost me 3000L. I can't afford to replace this item, and I wanted to use it this weekend! I sincerely hope that we are all going to see some Linden dollars in our accounts very soon. Thanks I'm taking extreme action on this to defend myself from further losses.
As of this moment, I will not rezz a thing or use anything in my inventory< For fear of losing it. But given the fact that inventory items are apparently disappearing on their own, I probably won't have anything left by the time LL does anything. Basically, my Second Life is over because of this. I cannot do anything for fear of further loss. Hi again. I report it according to a format again.

Hmm, the blog says, this problem is resolved, this bug-tracker says the problem is still open. What is the real status? Can we dare to rezz no-copy items again, or should we wait fùrther???
Just freaking wonderful...35 minutes composing a comment so that EVERYTHING is in it & explained fully & the stpuid system then tries to tell me that I wasn't logged in when I obviously had to be in order to even start to write a comment! Like that doesn't add to the annoyance of an already VERY annoying situation! Sheesh!
So, here we go again...exact items lost, I can't give full specifics because my transaction history did not record the actual names of a few of the items, but... 3 rugs, each L$22 in cost, each named Miro with a few numbers following. I don't know the numbers attached to each & don't really care as I can replace the things & they are the least of my problems. Most upsetting: My Prim Finder 1.1, I believe it cost around L$249. Though not much considering what others have lost, I use the thing nearly every day & am really missing having it around. Yes I can afford to replace the thing...the point is that I shouldn't be expected to do so as I certainly didn't create this "problem". All items were lost on or around July 27th, all were lost from land that I am a group owner of & have build rights on Waring (130, 40, 119) &, yes, I have more than enough available prim to do as I please on my land, especially since my prim finder has now poofed out of existence. I still cannot rez items if standing inside a building on my land & cannot rez anything anywhere on other parcels that I have build rights on, such as Threlkeld. Incidentally, until sometime during the day on the 27th of July, I could still rez in Threlkeld, though I was already unable to do so on my land...I only know this because I was in Threlkeld the night of the 26th helping direct people in a treasure quest & had rezzed a few items while there. Now? No dice. If I am standing on land outside of either my home or workshop in Waring, I can rez items, though I have not even attempted a no copy item after my losses. I have no idea why standing outside would make a difference, but that's what's happening. I upgraded to the new voice version this morning - I'm not going back & looking for the version number as, if I'm logged out of this again before finishing I'm just going to start yelling - &, as of yet, have not had any problems with the client itself. As of the time of this writing, the color issue I had been experiencing (with whacked out colors on my menu & button bars whenever there was an incoming IM or a script interacted with my avatar) seem to have cleared up, although I thought this was the case before but the problem had resurfaced with a vengance yesterday. The problems with colors which include a greyscale component (most blacks, greys & some browns) is still an issue...these colors washing out to a stark white. And, no, it has nothing to do with my video driver or anything on my system. With all of my free time I spent the better part of a day last week scrubbing my entire system in the hopes that it would help with the problem...it apparently didn't. Still, I have opened & used every graphics & photo program that I have & have had zero color issues...as such, this must be related to this platform. Yes, my drivers are all up to date & configured properly. The alt zoom issue I was experiencing, for the moment, seems to have cleared up...maybe this has to do with upgrading to the voice client. I don't know but will keep you updated as, limited though my abilities may be, I use alt zoom frequently. The restart didn't do anything to fix my rezzing problem, sorry. Will I be a happy camper when this is finally fixed? Yes. Am I annoyed that it may take until Monday now for it to be fixed? Very much so - I am hoping that someone is working on this during the weekend as it should have been worked on last week rather than pushing voice out. Do I feel that LL owes me compensation for more than a week lost to problems that I didn't cause? Most certainly so...I paid my money in good faith, just like everyone else. If the actions of LL, or the mere lack of action toward a problem for an entire week, cripples the performance of the platform, heck yeah, I think we deserve compensation. Do I think we'll get it? No. I'm just seriously tired of this & I can't understand why it has taken so long for anyone to start working on it...not to mention that such "action" occured just prior to the weekend...I just have no words for that which can be used in polite company... Yes I do, actually...I think y'all should be ashamed of yourselves & should start paying just a wee bit more attention to quality control before you roll something out. Someone missed dotting an "I" or crossing a "T" somewhere, that much is obvious. Beyond saying this, I'd have to dissolve into gutter talk... Please, I beg of you, fix it & fix it sooner rather than later... ***If anyone who previously reported is scrolling through the posts, did you have this occur prior to your problems?
I just thought of something that might be of help, I really have no idea, but here goes... For 3-4 days prior to my rezzing issues & everything else, I was having problems with falling through floors...I'd be walking along in my house or workshop & just fall through the floor for no reason. Anyone else experience this? There also seemed to be a rumbling/bumping of my screen just proceeding this, funny as it may sound. Honestly, I laughed & told my husband that it looked like a simulated earthquake. I'd previously just tossed the whole thing out of my mind, thinking it was a weird glitch until I just went back to the game just now & got to thinking about when it started happening & stopped happening. Since the problems with rezzing & everything else cropped up, I've had zero problems with falling through floors. Maybe this has something to do with the whole thing, maybe not...just thought I should mention it... Oh, & in my previous post I didn't mention the time that I lost my items. I have no clue as I'm online most of the time that I'm awake &, frankly, I'm lucky to remember that I ate lunch yesterday, not what or when I ate it And, as before - please, please, fix, fix, thank you, thank you... I've lost items in the rezzing process too. Twice I lost purchased, no-copy stuff on my own land. (The first was an HUD filled with purchased animations which I was trying to load with a new purchased animation; and a group of objects I had collected up unlinked from one of my parcels, to move to and place on another parcel. The unlinked objects included three sets of purchased Bits 'n Bobs poseballs and a no-copy freebie hammock, but everything else was copy/mod.) In both cases the land had plenty of room for the objects, both physically and prim-wise. That was last week.
Sometime during the week before last I was trying to rez lamps to sell in my store, and they wouldn't appear, over and over. Finally I got two to appear where I wanted them. A week later (Aug. 2) I logged on and there were four or five copies of the lamps stacked up where I had been trying to rez them earlier. After seven days they finally showed up! Maybe related to all this: In the weeks before this particular rezzing problem started for me, I was having problems with objects on my land disappearing. My entire store would be rezzed but there would be one object missing. I was convinced I was being robbed. My parcels are in two neighboring sims: Haddath and Rasczak. I'm a vendor, I sell furniture. If anyone lost stuff they purchased from me I'd give them a replacement without hesitation. It's all about service, plus, having had it happen to me, I totally sympathize. Hmmm... kinda sticks in the throat when you read the login screen saying the issue is [Resolved] - it isn't for the people who have lost thousanda of linden dollars!
There are some nice vendors out there who are happy to replace your item. I am one of the lucky ones who got replacements. I truly hope that everyone else here gets their dollars or replacements.  I actually rezzed an item I own, on my land, with my group tag on for that land and my item was still lost. It gave me the failed to rez notice about 20 times. I cleared my cache and restarted and it did nothing. I still have lost this item which was a Deluxe Huddles named Scarlet's Custom Huddles with Personalised Ani's full of every animation I had purchased on SL configured into one system. Value = 5k
According to the report on the bug this makes no sense as I was on my land with my tag on A senseless tragedy. I dont know what to do about it. I lost a Ravanne Dual Dance Pole which cost me L$2000, and a sine wave animation which cost me L$250. I replaced the pole which was essential to my business. Bothe were lost on my group land, while I wore group tages. I am a SL taxpayer in good standing, contributing as much as I can to the economy here. I demand recompense for these items.
An update on my various issues, as I'd noted I would provide...
The alt zoom issue has reoccured as I'd halfway expected it would so, for the most part, I can't zoom in on anything. Even worse, my teleporting issue that had been cleared up for more than 24 hours has now resurfaced...I have not teleported once since in the last 12 hours or so without having the game crash on me. I have tried teleporting to four different places & then back to my own land, crashing every time, just to be certain it wasn't a glitch that would go away... Just delightful... **A note for others with the rezzing problems...try standing on land outside of any structure & see if you can rez a copyable object. While it is true that I refuse to even try a no copy object, I've managed a slight work-around since my rezzing abilities have now been down for more than a week. Since I can rez outside of a building, I just work outside. So far - & it wouldn't really matter if it didn't work since I could recreate it (except for the time spent, of course - I have still been able to do minor work on creations. Since I was in the middle of decorating my new home when all of this occured, if I come across something that I'd wanted in the house that is copyable, I just rez it outside & then move it inside via edit. I've not, as yet, lost anything doing this tho, again, since the items are copyable, I could easily replace them. Just a couple of ideas if you are beginning to go stir-crazy waiting for a fix that actually works... The stated issue did not cover all cases. For example I lost hours of work simply moving a built linked object from one piece of my land to another across a sim boundary. It appeared to move successfully, but I logged on later and the second sim had apparently been re-set to the state it was in BEFORE I moved the objects, and so I lost them from BOTH regions. Objects I had deleted had reappeared and objects I placed were gone. So apparently the process of working on this issue itself caused loss of objects.

lost a pose ball 29L and a floating lap top 149L and i have had 1 item (outfit) was kindly sent back to replace lost one * finally did open *after 3days!!! some of these sim onwers dont care & i wonder if LL does either!! i hope LL does somethinga bout these bugs * TG i know its not My mac:DDD these sl viewer probles need to been taken care of......THIS has to stop Please im glad i dont own land otherwise I sue LL!!!!! i also have other problesm but so far this is only one ive seen as a bad bug thats a PAIN!!!!! so fix it so i can enjoy the SL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am working on my own group owned land and i am wearing that groups tag while am working. I still have several hundred open prims available, so that is not an issue.
I would like to finish this project soon so that i can move on to other work. This has got to be the worst and on of the most evasive bugs facing SL.
I dont think its a good idea to use residents pc's for inventory. Then hackers would definitely find a way to modify, copy, and transfer EVERYTHING in their inventory. No inventory loss (that I notice) for me so far despite many failure to rez's on when dragging from inventory to world, or simply entering a region with my avatar (rezzing attachments). I'm not sure if it is anyway related but I get all my prims going phantom for moments at a time sporadically every 15 min. or so even though they are all uncheckmarked for phantom. Revised loss: L$6110 - Aprox AUD$30.00 As of today's date, I have lost over L$3,000 ...closer to L$4.000 in inventory items that I've paid for. It has always been for 'no copy' items as already mentioned. However, I've lost them when trying to rez them on my own land which I know does not have the maximum number of prims on it. I have plenty of prims to play with...there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why these items fail to rez...but now I have an incredible sinking feeling when I get this message flashing up 'attempt to rez object failed'. I don't even need to attempt to rez the object several times...I simply now know that if this message flashes up...that's it...the object will be gone from my inventory the next time I log in. It's like playing Russian Roulette with my inventory items! I knew this morning not to rez no copy items until the issue was resolved...but I attempted to take a no copy item back into my inventory this morning....and the item just 'hung'...it refused to go back into my inventory...and I could see the folder in which it normally lived..lose it's arrow...the item vanished before my very eyes!!!!! Yet again...I lost an inventory item...just like that! So DO NOT TAKE NO COPY ITEMS BACK INTO YOUR INVENTORY EITHER...you could have the same thing happen to you!!!!
This along with the fact that my voice chat has been completely disabled for over 24hrs...and the issue still isn't resolved...I'm about to sell up and cancel my membership. I thought this was supposed to be an enjoyable experience...I haven't been here for long...but I could do without the frustration that I'm paying for! I finished to acquire 10 dollars in linden to improve the appearance of my avatar. I bought clothes and body, as it was not obtaining to use I closed the game and new April of putting nothing of that it had bought was la but my money had diminished.

Item Desc: Amethyst Collar (slim) The real value of this item was what it contained – Lots of anims and customisations (AO, Settings, Scripts) Just to add insult to injury and having taken the advice of Torley, I have been being extremely cautious about rezzing anything that is non-copy, and only rezzing on build free zones, Namely my own land. Now imagine my dismay when not only have I already posted 2 comments on here stating tjhat I had lost quite a substantial amount of rl moneys worth of inventory items, items which I have invested my hard earned cash into.
Then low and behold what should happen yesterday, but I lose yet more items. A swing 80L$, animatiosn worth approx 2000L$ and a set of disco lights 180L$. Now quite frankly I am utterly disgusted at the fact that not only have I lost quite a substantial amount of rl moneys worth of merchandise, but so have so many others. While I appreciate that there should have been a note on the blog, not everyone reads the blog and I am sorry but I think given the seriousness of this issue Lindens should quite frankly bite the bullet and do a site wide notice so ever person using SL gets to know about this issue. I also think the least they can do is to reimburse us our money, what upsets me more than anything, is the total lack of respect for us as consumers of the sl product. I have spent many hours collecting the textures I lost and am extremely upset about them as many cannot be replaced, so not only have I to all intents and purposes had them stolen from my inventory because of a bug that is not being reported to the entire sl community, but it would appear that I wont even be financially reimbursed, so I will quite possible have to go out and replace a number of these textures again and run the risk of them being stolen again from my inventory not to mention costing me even more money. Thsi has left quite a bitter taste in my mouth and I am extremely gutted at the lack of support we seem to be getting as consumers of sl, to the point I am reluctant now to even recommend friends to sl. I wonder how long it will be before we get another response from somebody??
Also to clarify, because I know this comes up every now and then – we would have fixed this ASAP even if it didn't have votes, because it's glaringly obvious that it's an important problem. What do votes do, then? They can help let us know that you're affected and consider this to be severe. Voting is one criteria of several we use to prioritize bugs, but certainly not the only one. It can help to distinguish the magnitude of an issue, e.g., something affecting 1,000 people is almost surely more severe than something affecting 10, and we appreciate you letting us know. Yesterday, I've had three separate instances where I thought I had encountered this very same bug yet again. All the symptoms were there: I tried to take something out of my inventory, I got a failed to rez message and the object returned to my inventory. The only difference was that once I tried to rez the very same object for a second time (after taking two, three deep breaths and keeping my fingers crossed), it actually did rez. And it stayed in-world after a relog, too. As far as I've been able to see, the bug has been fixed. I should have noticed the change, because the error message when an object failed to rez is now different from last week. I haven't written down the exact words, but I do know the error message has changed.

So, it says this issue is resolved, but I'm still not gonna rez anything, anywhere, at any time. My problems all occurred on my own land (see my comment above), not in a sandbox or group land. I'm thinking maybe it should go down as a separate issue that hasn't yet been resolved. I have lost and Huddles ez animator loaded with about 8-10 dances from sine waves island at the animation warehouse.. value about 2500-3000 L$ so any help would be appreciated.
I did not start losing objects upon rezzing until this was labeled "resolved". I am now losing no-copy items from inventory about 1/3 of the time.

Lost a no copy/no transfer hair... Tried to wear it, it failed to rez, then next when I went into inventory it was gone. Might only have cost me $200, and lots of other people have lost way more expensive items then me, but it shouldn't happen AT ALL.
I lost a nice new flex skirt and top by Tata on Tuesday 07August and a new Amazing White Pants set on Wed 08 August while putting them both on for the first time and at two different locations. I may have lost more, had two crashes 07 and 08 August. Haven't been able to connect to SL at all since i quit the program this early morning (no crash) but my shirts were turning into shorts (strange rez) and my clothes have been turning into my skin like tattoos the past few days too.
On the 1st August i lost a Chim which i had just purchased plus several animations, this was pre-announcement. The first round of this cost me: 800 chim, 250 anim, 250 anim, 400 anim. I attempted to REZ it actually at the store. I re-logged in and it was all gone. I then bought another while i waited for response from Owen Khan, owner of Owen animations. That too wouldn't REZ. So again lost Chim, lost animations. I'm very annoyed as are all the people here as it would seem we are just supposed to take this as a loss, fine, if it wasn't real money. Any normal company and you could legally claim for a faulty goods, damage caused directly from the incompetance of the manufacturer etc. I'm dissappointed in Linden Labs as they should be offering compesation in some way, and also in Owen Khan for ignoring request via his IM, which he proudly claims he will answer. What are we to do? has anyone got any further than I have? I really feel for some of you, you've lost quite alot of Real money, mine was roughly 3500L when you take into account all the other little things that have vanished.
Today i purchased 2 Excite Items total value of about 2k... each time I attempted to Rez the item so i could open and use only to receave a message saying I couldnt rez at my own home location even... I logged off and logged back in.. only to find the items gone from my inventory...
Three purchases from Xcite... first attempt to read notecards/instructions failed to load... tried rezzing objects, disappeared from inventory. Tried restarting - gone from inventory, all items. Tried again, off location, got "object pending", and no permissions to read notecards. Reloaded, items gone from inventory. Tried a third time - on location at Xcite, in lounge, got "insufficient permissions" message, and objects failed to rez. Restarted, items gone from inventory. IIM'ed all listed contacts for Xcite - no response. $2700L gone.
Just purchased 100 L of hair, i attempted to wear it and got "object pending" message.
Then the hair disappeared from my inventory. Bug fixed? Really? I know this issue is not fixed yet. I have lost items recently AFTER the fix as well. In my case I tried to "take" the item and nothing happened. Then when I relogged the items was gone from my land and not in my inventory. I got a replacement, but this bug has GOT to be fixed. It is really getting out of hand with all of the lost items. I have found that if you can rez something (try it with something copyable) or take to your inventory then you are probably ok. I know that my last instance is not exactly the same as the title indicates, however since take/rez is just in different directions it is applicable

I'll get it to our devs ASAP. This issue has come up for me very recently. I got the exact same error when rezzing three linked objects separately from my inventory and it saying that the owner does not allow it and poof my items vanished. I've already cleared cache several times to no avail. I don't think this bug is fixed completely. This happened to me on 07/03/08 in the sim of Shetlon. Can someone please help me fix this issue?
I'm resolving this as "cannot reproduce" as I am unable to reproduce this issue at this time.
