 Description  « Hide
Currently, it is only possible to send a notice to an entire group. Everyone in a role that has the ability to "Receive group Notices and view past Notices" will receive that notice. With this new feature, the person creating the new notice would have the power to choose which roles they would specifically like to the send the notice to, instead of the entire group.

To choose which roles to send the notice to, there would be checkboxes with each of the roles listed. The sender could press a button called "Send To" and a seperate window would pop up (much like the "Permissions" button in the edit window) with these checkboxes, to turn on and off the roles that the notice is sent to. Roles that have the receive group notices ability unchecked, would be greyed out. Meaning that they would be unclickable, the sender would be unable to check them and send the notice to those roles.

Roles that have the receive group notices ability turned on, but did not get the notice sent to them would not see it in past notices section of the group's profile. Because they were not sent the notice in the first place, they would be unable to go back and see it as a past notice as this would ruin the whole point of sending it only to certain roles.

Right now, it is possible to do this. However, the sender of the notice must be able to go into each role they would not like the notice sent to and uncheck the receive group notices ability. Then, they would have recheck each role again after sending the notice. With this feature, whoever sends the notice will be able to choose who to send it to instead of having to go through each role and uncheck the ability.

Some uses for this might be product owners that want to send updates but only for a certain product. The product owner may have a single group for his/her products and each role represents a product. With this feature the product creator would be able to send an update just to the role which represents the product that was updated. Other times this might come in handy is if the notice needs to only be seen to the top people in the group, maybe just the owner(s) and officer(s).

There are many ways that this new feature would be useful. It would make it much easier to control who gets what information in a group.
