Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-37659

 Description  « Hide
Recently we've found that our sims frequently rev totally out of control, with hundreds of milliseconds of script time without any "griefer" devices being present. Scripts which normally use less than a fraction of 0.1ms will generate 8, 10, even 40 ms of script time. We have to get concierge to come turn off the simulators mono script engine and turn it back on to reset things. A normal sim restart doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes we need to return a mono script that is revving out of control. There needs to be some sort of governor on the maximum script time any one mono script can generate.

We frequently see simulators with 50 ms, even hundreds of milliseconds of script time lagging the sim so badly that its nearly impossible to teleport into the sim or out of it.

Our residents are very upset about the performance issues that result from this, as well as the problems for them and their customers to access their stores.

I knewd it since a long time i knewd it all most the lagg upcoming in SIMs with the high PING SIM showing up if someone enters and leaves was from the very long startup time monoscripts needing and whatnot since mono never really was correct implemented in the whole SL codes and stuff , also it happned the same in much more earlier server versions i think this problem showed up first with the rollout 1.25 server code version in combination with most of the 1.21 and above Clients.

Specific regions we've repeatedly had problems include: Magritte, Hayek, Sorens, Ruwart, Nolan, Metaverse City. Maggie and Keira Linden worked with us on magritte and hayek specifically, you can talk to them about the issue.

We have repeatedly restarted sims, this hasn't fixed anything. The only way to fix it is to turn the mono engine off, and back on. Turning it off the lag remains but when you turn it back on, things reset to normal levels.

This is really a cruicial issue, our residents are all up in arms about it. The military role play groups have all reset their scripts to all be non-mono because this is such a bad problem.
