Attaching a very simple video showing this bug.
mentioned svc-1121, and upgraded priority to match priority of said jira, as it seems to be a reopening of it, if someone disagrees just lower the priority, was only raised to match status of svc1121
That's a pretty damning video, and I have also confirmed this bug on my own.
This is an important anti-griefing/anti-clutter feature. Object Entry denial allows shop owners who have set up residence next to a combat sandbox the ability to not have their customers hit by flying projectiles. In the sandboxes, Abbots Airfield is protected from gray goo attacks and projectiles by a thin No-Object-Entry parcel on the edge of their sim adjacent to Sandbox Cordova. Griefing? Griefing is never as bad as scamming, what about moving invisiprims over vendors and XSL terminals so people will accidentally pay them instead of the vendor?
where would the prim be made, when most vending areas are no build? plus now right clicks dont pick up invisible objects, only visible ones if one is outside of edit mode, and harleen, self propelled objects* seem able to escape, but not ones moved by hand
*i discovered that objects with take controls can escape as well, even if nonphysical it seems Ahh, didn't realize you were talking about physical objects, this reproduces for me using physical objects. In 1.26.4, physical objects cannot even cross the parcel boundary.
Harleen, in the video I demonstrated a physical object, but you can ctrl+drag a non-physical object in and out of that parcel just as easily with no error.
EDIT: So with the object editor open you won't be able to reproduce this. It will properly prevent you from dragging your object into a no entry parcel if you try to move your object through the editor. Objects can also move into no entry parcels under their own power. Confirmed. My experience matches pervious reports. I have repliacted what was shown in the video at that location, and, indeed, this is unexpected behaviour.
This may explain something I observed while checking out land on Zindra. The Bicycle Fish sim was open but the adjacent sim was still clsoed (except to those who have access to the LPDW estate, which is distinct from the Mainland estate.) But there was a prim on the closed sim, as you can see from this Snapzilla page:
http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?ID=385458 The location where the pic was taken was: secondlife://Bicycle+Fish/45/242/66/ Tammy Nowotny on the edge of an accessible Zindra sim, wondering about the prim on the adjacent closed sim
I don't think the prim in San Denis, next to Bicycle Fish is related, those regions are not even 1.27 yet and teh parcel allows object entry.
The prim is using the usual out of region trick, it is just a phantom prim. Has the 1.27 rollout begun yet? If so, this could be pretty serious – I haven't heard any official announcement yet but have heard that some regions are going to 1.27 already...
Is 1.27 still in development, with a chance of this being fixed before it hits live? simon and andrew had said on thursday during their office hour that it is possible to force a bug fix in (they were refering to
Have confirmed that this also occurs in
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kalithea/73/131/23 By popular demand, rewriting the description of the issue for clarity, with written repro.
The 1.27.0 pilot roll is already finished.
Just for further clarity: a remote-control physical vehicle with no avatar on board can penetrate a no-object-entry parcel in 1.27.0 also. The possibility of new bugs in other parcel border crossing behaviors should be investigated also. The pilot rollout was done last week on Thursday(July 9). It was for about 500 hosts, which is a little under 3000 regions. That's just under 10% of the grid I think, or somewhere around there. The full rollout is planned for Tuesday(July 14) unless it gets pushed back.
Seems like Linden Lab hasn't noticed this yet. And with only 24 votes, it doesn't seem like they're going to before rollout.
Obviously there are a lot of folks that this will not affect. But rolling this out basically allows a free-for-all for griefer/replicator cubes on the mainland. (Yep, some of us still live there.) It's a serious problem. No idea how to get it addressed at this point though. I think they have noticed.
It was triaged 11/Jul/09 09:14 PM and has an internal DEV bug number. It seems that the Lindens are working on this, and if we're lucky it'll be fixed sooner rather than later.
Should be fixed as of Second Life Server 1.27.0.126983
Thanks Vektor, I confirmed it a little while ago. Since the pilot re-roll just finished, there should be no regions left with this issue. Should this be marked resolved?
