I see absolutely no reason for keyword-filtering at all.

It is not the advert that matters - It is getting to AC places.

Why not keep it simple:

  • Adverts that link to an AC sim are flaged adult, others not.
  • Add a check box in search for all people: Search adult content

As you can see in the many discussions about keywords, all "intelligent filters" do not work properly.
Keyword filtering is a failure by design:

  • It will always filter false content
  • It will always not filter content that should be filtered
  • It will always be tied to languages - every language needs its own list
  • It cannot distinguish harmless meanings in one language from adult meanings in others
  • It fails with typos and misspelled words
  • It needs quite some CPU time and infrastructure
  • It will always create trouble and frustration because of these limits

With taking the AC flag from the TP destination of the designated classified you get:

  • Reliable filtering
  • you get filtered when you offer AC
  • you definitely know if you get filtered or not
  • No hassle with upset residents and content creators
  • No discrimination of people by accident
  • No requests to add new keywords
  • No requests to remove keywords
  • No need do maintain keywords
  • No stress
  • AC = Adult Content

Idea about an easy, efficient and reliable way for content filtering

Ilana Debevec added a comment - 05/May/09 08:07 AM
I suggested this to Blondni and it was ignored like all other alternative suggestions from everyone else
  • Flag the parcel adult. If you're not verified you can't get there.
  • If you can see the advertisement, it might inspire you to get verified if you see something you want to actually go see.

There are laws against DISCRIMINATION for sexual orientation and preference.

This is why I suggested:
  • Add a check box in search for all people: Search adult content

Using this you can check if you want find adds you would need to get verified to get to.
If you feel offended by such adds, you can uncheck that and feel safe.

I it is so easy to see that keyword filtering is not working by design.
I cross read http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Adult_Content_Keywords
  • pee
would filter Pee Dee, a region in South Carolina and Pee Dee River.
is an other word for penny (since 1602) (to "spend a pee" was meant to spend a penny for a public toilet) (pee as an other word for urinating is used since 1902)
is the name of an ensemble in Korea
  • Faggot
is English for fagot - a bundle of sticks or branches
    is a Christmas Tradition
    is a metalworking technique
is a variation of lace knitting
  • Pussy:
is the English word for cat
    is a place in France
is the name of a comic figure
  • Nipple is a device with an orifice through which the discharge of a liquid can be regulated - used very often
  • Sex is used to describe gender topics - the word is mentioned in every ID card
  • Tits
    is a surname e.g: Jacques Tits, a French/Belgian mathematician
is a family of songbirds - some residents sell some - e.g. search for Marsh Tit in classifieds
  • twat
is the name of the people of Twat, people living in the north of Algeria
is the name of several places in Schottland
    is English for fool
  • Dungeon
is something that usually belongs to every castle
is an other word for the keep of a castle
is the playground for many fantasy role playing games
is the name of a museum in London
is the name of a Comic series
is the name of a magazine
is the name of a wrestling school in Canada
  • Escort
is the name of a model of Ford - actually the most sold car of its time in Europe
is an engineering conglomerate in India
  • Domme
    is a region in France
is the Swabian translation for "stupid people" (e.g. SL f'r Domme == SL for Dummies)

So if you use keyword filtering, it is not for the reason it is pretending, for keyword filtering obviously and verify-able does not work for the purpose it is pretending to be installed for.

It is fully possible to write a totally innocent story that will get filtered for EVERY sentence, and a steaming hot story that slides right through. Keyword content filtering - even contents filtering is at best faulted by design, at worst it will force a new language of synonyms, a language that will change and evolve - until it is impossible to write a normal English text without beeing filtered.

STOP THIS MADNESS!

Thank you for your suggestions on this. We are looking at ways to refine the search behavior and your comments are being taken into account along with many other suggestions as we move forward on this.

A good bad example for keyword filtering is the new search engine of Microsoft: bing

So I see absolute no reason why not but filter for the place of origin.
-> adult origin -> adult content
all others be kept unfiltered

Until you come up with a miracle word filter system that can tell the difference between these two sentances and correctly rate them, DON"T USE WORD FILTERS:

PG: "This is a safe Playground for children. Child avatars welcome. Absolutely no XXX Adult Activities allowed!"

ADULT: "This is a XXX Playground! Adult avatars and activities welcome. Absolutely no children or child avatars allowed!"

There is NO word filter in the world that could correctly rate two ads containing those sentances. They use almost precisely the same words, with the same frequency of appearance. Yet the OWNER of the parcel the ad is for knows EXACTLY what they mean, and can very easily indicate the rating of their ad and their parcel.

Make it a land owner responsibility, and use proper enforcement. Don't try to automate what HAS to be a Human judgement call.
